what's the deal with permanent banners? I thought it was just an issue with my crappy computer, but it's doing it on my mac too. Superbad.

Yeah, I'm getting it, too. I'm going to assume JB broke it when he went in looking for KarlJan's phantom malware.
Now you're in the *spoiler* place.

I'm stumped so far. I never uploaded anything, and I've yet to find any malicious code anywhere. And malicious code is super obvious.

Out of curiosity, is everybody here seeing dead Laura Palmer and "We almost definitely changed the world" or are different people getting different banners?
Now you're in the *spoiler* place.

It's random which set of banners you get, but you get stuck with it. I just restarted my computer and I'm stuck with a different set.

Ohh, you needed to screencap it instead of copying the index.php. Yeah, it's going to keep changing.

I have still been trying to get help on the banner situation, by the way. The people on the SMF support forum tried a couple things but neither worked. Now they might be ignoring me.

If anyone has basic javascript and/or php knowledge, let me know, and if you help me fix this you'll receive a thousand Xixax points.

It sounds like the random number generator seed is bad (but that wouldn't explain the cache issue itself).  I might be able to help.  Depends on how complex the JavaScript/PHP used to do the thing is.  Might be best to just roll your own.  I'd be willing to take a look.

I'm stuck with Do me a favor and ban me/Ferris Bueller cast pose in art gallery.  SHIFT+RELOAD changes it, of course.

Bear with us. I reverted it for now, but it looks promising...

OMG IT'S FIXED

Ono wrote a brand new script for the image rotation, which works splendidly and apparently makes more sense than our original script. (He can explain if he wants.) The bonus of this new script is that you can see/copy the URLs of the banners for further referencing/exploitation.

Moral of the story, Ono receives one thousand non-refundable Xixax points for use at any time. He rather quickly solved a problem that had completely stumped the SMF support forum.

It's still a mystery why this happened in the first place. My new theory is that the original script was just outdated and messy and had to stop working eventually, perhaps facilitated by an update to Godaddy's servers or something like that. (That's how the internet works, right?)
