Hey the Modernage!, that song list looks good...

I'd love a copy

Grew up with Nat King Cole... that's the best.

My dad listens to a lot of those shitty Manheim Steamroller christmas albums.  It's like being trapped in an elevator for an entire month.

Here's a couple others I have that I enjoy:

you and Donald Darko should throw a party and be Grinches together.  maybe you just havent been exposed to the good stuff.  listening to the radio is very hit and miss.  some good stuff, but a whole lot of Feliz Navidad, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer and All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth as well.  try downloading/picking up a few of the suggestions on the first page.  either the old standards or some stuff from the rockin' christmas cds if thats your thing.

fiona apple- frosty the snowman
ryan adams- hey parker, its christmas
phantom planet- carol of the bells
death cab for cutie- christmas (baby please come home)
the polyphonic spree- happy xmas (war is over)
the raveonettes- the christmas song
ron sexsmith- maybe this christmas
flaming lips- a change at christmas (say it isnt so)
xtc- thanks for christmas
pete yorn- do they know its christmas
rilo kiley- xmas cake
ivy- christmastime is here
teenage fanclub- christmas eve
mogwai- christmas song

i saw today that Starbucks has some xmas cd compilation featuring Aimee Mann performing Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.  i would love to have this version, so if anyone knows where to find it (outside of paying 20 dollars for the cd i dont want the rest of), please let me know.

also if anyone knows of any other good christmas tunes by modern artists, let me know...

Is it better or worse than...

03 We're Goin' to the Country!
04 Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming

06 Holy, Holy, etc.
07 Amazing Grace

Vol. II Hark! Songs for Christmas

01 Angels We Have Heard On High
02 Put the Lights on the Tree
03 Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
04 I Saw Three Ships
05 Only at Christmas Time
06 Once in David's Royal City
07 Hark! The Herald Angels Sing!

Vol. III Ding! Dong! Songs for Christmas

01 O Come, O Come Emmanual
02 Come On! Let's Boogie to the Elf Dance!
03 We Three Kings of Orient Are
04 O Holy Night
05 That Was the Worst Christmas Ever
06 All the King's Horns
07 Ding! Dong!
08 The Friendly Beasts

other than that, not a lot of new stuff to add this year.  i did find that Aimee Mann "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" on iTunes as well as a My Morning Jacket "Does Xmas Fiasco" EP, the rest of the Bright Eyes Christmas Album and another song or two.  the holy grail for me this year is tracking down a song i heard last year a few days after christmas playing in the Gap.  i'm not sure if it was AC Newman solo or with The New Pornographers or Zumpano but it was definitely him singing an original Christmas song and i can't find a trace of it anywhere.  one million dollars (or thank-yous) to anyone who can bring me closer to solving this mystery.

I assume you're thinking of 'the mods of christmastown.'  It is available for download here(along with a number of Zampano rarities):
