yeah I was the director, producer and editor - didn't really do any cinematography, and for this one I actually got a stunt coordinator so I wouldn't have to do that much work on the day of shooting. The stunt coordinator is this crazy russian dude (the big dude who took three knives early on in the fight scene) name Vlad who is 28 but looks 40 and just has insanely great ideas:
I shot a tiny fraction, but the cinematography was handled by a long time collaborator who's really good and hopefully one day soon he'll get discovered. he's truly versatile and has rocked everything I've thrown his way- from narrative to lifestyle ads (one that paid ridiculous amount of money but I'm too ashamed to show here) to food product shots to fighting. this was my most conventional directing gig so far, in which I didn't have to wear my usual hats as shooter or stunt coordinator or whatever else.
Aesop Rock and I met on the set of his last shoot and when he found out that I did action movies he asked if we could do one 'cause he wanted to take a break from rapping to the camera. We're doing another one in a week (gulp), and I hope I can handle a more conventional music video.
