Haha Pete man, no offense, but the posts you made in this thread are about semantics.

You make statements like these:

the assertion that "tyranny" can somehow be satiated (and quantified) is ridiculous.

like they are so self-evident and meaningful. I'm sorry but that sentence is empty.

I don't believe a political ideology is capable of shaping anything.  it's a little bit like religion this way - it's used to guide the individual yes, but mainly it's fabricated to justify or explain what is already taking place.  so different ideologies, which are basically cheaper or more forgettable versions of philosophy or religion or "thought", are actually created after everything has been set in place.  they are based in religion or philosophy or culture, leeching off its importance and significance, but really quite powerless.

Again, this looks like it should mean something, but it's just semantics about the word ideology.

SoNowThen: For the Lewis quote, you are right, I didn't see it like that. Even more, the robber baron is mostly interested in money whereas those movements you mention are more interested in killing everyone. haha I'm being de mauvaise foi but it's almost true really.

This is what happens when you cross politics with Xixax.

Let's go to a motel. We don't have to do anything -- we could just swim.

maybe it's a language barrier, or maybe you're drunk again, but sorry dude, you can't just pretend your argument has weight and one-dimensionalise everyone else's points, that not how a discussion works.

lewis made this comparison that people with guilty conscience are worse than people with greed, because greed will end and the guilty conscience will not.  but that has never been the case.  greed, like the guilty conscience, is bottomless and people don't become less miserable over time.

but yes, without real examples in real life situations, any debate about political ideology will end up empty, because the ideas are meant for immediate application but you're making them abstract and exist in a vacuum.

or if you just set this thread up so you can regurgitate whatever it is smart thing you heard elsewhere, then fine, lemme get out of your way.

Haha man, arguing with polka was fun and interesting. that thread was pretty nice before pete stepped in I guess. but I despise it now.

We should make a dump subforum for all worthless, ruined threads. You remember that ''real estate listing'' one? Man, that was pretty terrible.
