Pubrick:
this looks really boring but i guess i hav to be interested cos PSH is out there getting it done.
actors directing is largely hit or miss. i would even say that it is mostly miss.
they make fine films but nothing great, with some exceptions being if it's the only film they ever direct: see Laughton (Night of the Hunter), Brando (one-eyed jacks.. kubrick gets the credit), Welles (Citizen Kane, in the sense it's the only time he got to do exactly what he wanted without interference or compromise).
picolas:
i get excited for actor directors. if anything, they usually know how to get good performances. todd field. cassavetes. fassbinder.
of course they're mostly miss, but director directors are mostly miss too.
MacGuffin:
Trailer here.
S.R.:
Actor directors when they direct themselves is hilarious. I'm going to direct it, but I'm also going to star in it. That's hilarious even in the initial meeting.
