this looks good.  I just saw Drumline and I actually thought it was really good (for a studio film, you know) so I went on and searched the director, and this is his next film.  I say couple more years of him kicking around in the studio wrestling more creative control away from them execs and he might actually be somebody.  the trailer looks very funny.

When I saw the trailer the whole story seemed to me like an expanded, obviously softer take on Boogie Night's Buck Swope. I just watched the trailer, though, so I could be completely wrong.

My friend works at Miller Park (where the baseball scenes were shot) and got to run the scoreboard during the filming. He said this movie was initially more of a drama, but they went back and reworked it late in the filming process to make it more of a comedy. The trailer doesn't look very good, but I enjoy baseball quite a bit and since so much of it was filmed in my hometown, I'll probably check it out eventually.
