Ok, who can explain this line in Switchfoot's song "Gone" to me:

gone, like Frank Sinatra
like Elvis and his mom
like AL Pacino's cash nothing lasts in this life
my highschool dreams are gone
my childhood sweets are gone
life is a day that doesn't last for long

In reference to Al Pacino, did one of his characters lose a big sum of money in some film I've never seen? Or, did a personal financial crisis strike him personally?

Aah, good point. Since that's the theme of the whole song.

Frank and Elvis and his mom are all dead, though, which led me to believe the reference to Al was something that had already happened.

I guess "Oprah Winfrey" just didn't flow as well as "Al Pacino".
