Quote from: themodernage02so, mac how much difference is there in these and the ones out there now? i'm assuming not much because it's in this thread.

Same extras. The difference is that instead of episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, it now comes with that Bonus Disc.

Niccol Announces Gattaca DVD
Sci-fi film due in a deluxe edition.

During the recent press day for his new film Lord of War, writer-director Andrew Niccol mentioned that efforts recently began on a new edition of his directorial debut Gattaca starring Jude Law and Ethan Hawke. "There is actually, yeah," Niccol said. He went on to express his appreciation for the continued interest that critics and audiences have in the film: "It's kind of interesting because the reviews for a film, the true reviews, are written like five or ten years later, so people are still interested in the movie, or that's my hope."

Niccol said that he has not yet performed a commentary track for the DVD, and like his former Truman Show collaborator Peter Weir, is somewhat reluctant to draw back the curtain on the creative process. "I haven't done [a commentary] yet," he said. "I resist those audio commentaries because they demystify the process, and for some reason I don't like that." Describing its continued relevance, particularly in light of the current debate about stem cell research, Niccol demurred, "I was just interested at the time, and it was one of those issues that occurred to me, but I try not to look back, actually."

The original release of Gattaca featured minimal extra features and bonus materials, including deleted scenes and a short 'making-of' featurette.

No release date has been set for the release of a Gattaca Special Edition DVD.

The official Roger Moore website has indicated that Sir Roger has just begun recording new audio commentary tracks for the seven Bond films in which he starred. His first recording session, for A View to a Kill, was completed this last weekend. Word is, these tracks will be included on new Ultimate Editions of the Bond films set to be released by Sony in 2006 (and no doubt timed to coincide with the theatrical debut of Casino Royale).
