So, I'm considering doing a little advertising of the place in the near future. How'd you get here?

I might repeat this later, but what's with the Fark thing under the Xixax logo? Fark is not the best place to recruit, I thought the new movement was against clique-ness.

I bought a classified ad on Fark today. It'll run for a week.

Just cross-pollination... Not sure about the whole clique thing.

After 1/2 day, we've had 8 click throughs and 0 signups. Not the best numbers, but who knows.

I think we need to readjust the marketing scheme to increase the ammount of non PTA boarders.

I'm game.

I think the most effective thing we can do with no budget is for people to post plugs on the other boards they frequent.

Or maybe get plugs on movie news/DVD websites, I know some of you have connections.

Here's the problem, though... let's face it, the only reason that so many people found the first message board is because it was a Paul Thomas Anderson message board. I don't see how promoting through director-specific sites like c & c could not be effective, but how realistic is it that we'll show up on search engines if we're not specific? And how specific would we need to be?

Sure. The Xixax awards have already gotten us some press on Greg's board, and we've seen several new users from it.

Likewise, if directors are honored with a nomination or an award, maybe they will post that news as well.

My only problem is that I'm not a member of any of these board. We need something like a little "press release" that we can e-mail to the keepers of these director's web sites.

How do you go about getting on IMDB where you click a movie and you see where it has been nominated...?

i came to this site because i can't find enough people to have good film conversation with....i now feel like my taste in movies is not unique, and boring...i'm going to find a more shallow, "mainstream" message board. :?

Before I got on the PTA board I thought I was pretty well versed in movies, especially more obscure ones. But really, I was only seeing the Requiem For A Dreams, and Magnolias... ect. Boards are great

I found this place by accident, i clicked on a banner somewhere, don't remember where though.  I think this place is awsome, it's the first board i've been on, which is cool because you guys don't talk about shitty movies.

Then, a week ago, someone posted about the PDL DVD on The Home Theater Forum, and mentioned this site. I checked it out again and joined this time. :(

Hi there.  New here.  Saw this place mentioned either at an IMDB forum, or from the ptanderson.com page - I think it was the latter, actually, because I was looking for info on PTA's new projects, and came across the link to the Couch thread.  So yeah, these forums are a breath of fresh air.  So great to find intelligent people who enjoy films and filmmaking as much as I do.  :)
