Directed by Eli Roth
From the book by John Bellairs

I loved this book series as a kid. Super creepy, gothic atmosphere with amazing Edward Gorey illustrations:

My hope is that Eli Roth takes this as an opportunity to use his directing powers for good rather than evil. I'm not sure how it would be possible to cram gross misogyny into this story, but I worry that if anyone could find a way to do so, it would be him. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though.

Looks fun! And it's Amblin, so hopefully that tips the scales away from the Eli Roth we all know and love to hate.
