It's actually not.  The 6 movies I'm getting on blu-ray would be $87 plus shipping on amazon.  I paid $37 including shipping and sent in some old movies I've already upgraded that I didn't need anymore.  $50 savings, still a good deal!  If you're doing like 1 or 2 movies it's probably not worth it but for this particular batch, its really good.

do you think they'll take DVDs that were not retail purchased like for example 5 crappy DVDs that came with my old DVD player?

I think so.  It pretty much said anything thats a manufactured dvd and not porn.

wouldn't it be funny if this was a scam and some asshole got all of your movies and money, and you had nothing to blame but your consumerism?

Word around the internets is that everything is on back order.  No estimated ship time.  Don't count on those shipments before Christmas, Pozer.

I emailed them just to clear up that I was still getting the blu-rays and they responded:

Thank you for your recent email.  Your order was placed with in the time frame of the special so you will be receiving your order the way it is suppose to be.  I did check on your order and just letting you know that Eyes Wide Shut: Special Edition, The Fountain, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are currently on backorder.  As soon as we have these items in stock your order will be shipping out.
