Sleepless

Anyone else watch the first episode last night? I just want to go home and watch the next one already.
He held on. The dolphin and all the rest of its pod turned and swam out to sea, and still he held on. This is it, he thought. Then he remembered that they were air-breathers too. It was going to be all right.

i did. it was really impressive/big but also reminded me of how war movies have a much tougher time justifying their existences nowadays because nearly everything has been done. it's so Private Ryan-y. and i love Private Ryan. but i was kind of bored by just how Private Ryan-y it was. amidst all the really terrific shots and scary/brave/disturbing moments.

I did like how the scene where they landed on the beach was played as a direct contrast to Ryan.

Also, having watched both Brothers and Hurt Locker over the past couple months, WWII kicks Iraq/Afghanistan's ass. Definitely the best war.
