Jean-Paul Belmondo in 'Breathless'. I love it. And of course, his Michel is infatuated with Bogart. I've never smoked but watching Belmondo as a Bogart gangster smoking... it always makes me want to start.

Yeah, you beat me to it. Hands down the best smoking.

Though Anna Karina is pretty good in My Life To Live.
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

Oh hell yeah, that one kicks ass.

Also, The Man Who Wasn't There, not the coolest, but one of my faves.
The blunt Tyrone rolls in Requiem for a Dream, he puffs it, and it fades...very cool.

Another funny scene is in the 400 Blows when Doinel is in jail and makes his cig...I thought that was just cool.

And that guy in Breathless was WAY too hard to look at for me to enjoy his smoking.

But who could beat this:

WWPTAD?

Alethia

what about sam jackson in jackie brown, when he first meets robert forster and says "where can i put my ash?" with the smoke coming out of his mouth and nose...so fucking cool....can someone cap that?

Sleuth

Yeah, she was smoking filterless, which is pretty badass. :(

Some more:

In Jackie Brown, in the climax, when she's in the dark room, she exhales some of the best-looking smoke ever.

The Coens had alot of good ones: The Dude, the bounty hunter in Raising Arizona, The Man Who Wasn't There, the bad guy who wasn't Steve Buscemi in Fargo ("He looked like the Marlboro Man, but maybe I'm just saying that cause he smoked alot of Marlboros. Ya know, kinda like a subconcious thing."), the bad guy in Blood Simple, etc :(

Also, the movie Reefer Madness :(
