my guess would be that PTA wanted a faster pace with PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE.  tichenor edits at a pretty slow pace.  (i know i'm gonna get shit for this but....)  MAGNOLIA and THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS are the only 2 examples i can think off the top of my head.  although BOOGIE NIGHTS was pretty fast pace but not as fast as PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE.

Leslie Jones isn't exactly the quick paced comedy cutter du jour either.  Just because Tichenor hasn't cut fast paced films doesn't mean he can't.

I'm making an unfounded guess that, as often happens in the movie biz, the schedule of PTA's project conflicted with Tichenor's, and you can't hold up getting a 25 million dollar production w/ Adam Sandler off the ground because of the editor, so he went with the best available.

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

I think it might it be because Dylan was busy with "Tenenbaums" to commit to "PDL." "PDL" shot in early 2001, as did "Tenenbaums".

Yeah, I thought it was something like that, too.

Well, I don't believe this is the reason since Leslie Jones' best work is The thin red line -not a fast pace at all!

But I couldn't be happier with the choice. I know Dylan is a PTA close friend but I think his editions are not good enough for PTA...and I hate the edition he made for Unbreakable.

PDL' s is the best edition of all PTA movies (in fact all the PDL thecnical part was higher).

If you are known [or in the know], does that make you better than those who are not?

Yes. Yes, it does. For unknown people are gross.
It also means you have legions of fans wanting to bed you. Which is really sorta weird.

I think I remember PTA saying he wanted to have a different feel with this film, I may be wrong, so I think he said that's why he did it.
