Biggest omissions: Tree of Life, Drive and BREAKING BAD, BB's really surprise me, the others not so much.

No Breaking Bad? Invalidated.

(Or is it too late for that?)

The last episode of Breaking Bad alone is better than most of the movies I saw last year. We have to always remind ourselves what a joke the Hollywood Foreign Press is.

We need to come up with some jokes for Ricky Gervais concerning this BB omission.

At least one of these best picture nominees won't be nominated for an Oscar...

Breaking Bad wasn't eligible for the Emmy's this year because of the dates schedule or something - I assume it's the same issue here with GG?

Nice to see Albert Nobbs has gotten some recognition. I caught it at AFF and was really good (despite the projectionist fucking up so that that had to stop the movie TWICE). Don't be surprised if both Close and McTeer walk away with awards at the end of the night.

I still need to catch up on a LOAD of movies form this year but these noms are further validation that I need to also see Homeland and American Horror Story.
He held on. The dolphin and all the rest of its pod turned and swam out to sea, and still he held on. This is it, he thought. Then he remembered that they were air-breathers too. It was going to be all right.

I don't think so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Breaking Bad's hiatus is what caused that gap in awards eligibility. So it's not as if Season 4 would be missing out.

Speaking as someone who does watch and actually really enjoys American Horror Story on its own terms, its nomination is INSANE.

shows like Boardwalk that just ended and Homeland with one episode to air this weekend (JB check that show out) are nominated, so BB was eligible, I really dont find any logical explanation why it wasnt; but what can we expect of them if they NEVER nominated The Wire?

Invalidated indeed.
