Title: they came together
Post by: jenkins on June 30, 2014, 12:40:32 PM

a nice way to look at it is as wet hot american summer mixed with the baxter. emphasize the baxter. how's that sound to you? a mean way to look at it is by watching the movie. ambiguous jk. it coulda been a short about a guy shitting his halloween costume then bam, done

Just a warning: If you're planning on seeing this movie I wouldn't watch that trailer (but if you're not planning on seeing it go ahead and watch, its basically just 2 minute montage of gags from the movie).

a kinda sad coda to the song that there isn't much in the movie and it coulda been a 10min short. if the costume shit and the bartender chat are in the trailer, dat's dat really. except you know, other things to enjoy here and there

glad these people make movies. i appreciate all the children of heaven

why do you keep promoting and making threads about these (almost) horrible movies?
i mean that genuinely, not mean or sarcastic, because you actually do have really good film taste.
im guessing there must be something hidden and special that i'm not getting, and that's not uncommon with shitty movies.

It's a David Wain-directed comedy starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. It should at least be granted benefit of the doubt based on that.

fair enough. the lack of 45 minute still cable car shots made me reticent.

The cast looks to be entirely composed of people from UCB and the Scheeriverse, including Michael Ian Black, Ken Marino, and even Jason Mantzoukas. So that's good.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed this movie because I love everyone in it and they seem to be having fun being in it. FWIW, I also love Wet Hot American Summer and everything Stella has done.  Yes its extremely dumb, but so are the movies its based on, and theres so many jokes that even if there's some misses in there it still manages to have a lot of laughs.

I love Showalter and Wain.  Wet Hot American Summer is one of my favorite comedies, and Stella one of my favorite shows.  They do stupid comedy very well, but it all stems from a keen understanding of genre conventions, etc.  (I guess anyone who would care about this movie knows that).   That being said, I could see this not working all that well, possibly an overblown short film.  I'll order it on demand tonight.

I just wanted to step in and defend this thread's existence.
