I know this is the same shit as the woody allen one...but which do you think is de niro's most underrated performance...

I think by far is Louis Gara in Jackie Brown...he's perfect in it...he's just perfect on every sound, every movement, every little gesture about this ex con who's half of the time asleep and the other stoned and who just got out of jail and is rediscovering how things are...

Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

Amen brother.  And I think King of Comedy is greatly underrated.
more than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. one path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. the other, to total extinction. let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.

The silent power he envokes in Neil McCauley is a great contrast to Pacino's loud authority. De Niro shows a timid tenderness when being with Eady that shows the softer side of his criminal life. Great stuff.

Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

Every time I watch 'Casino' I always think how damn under-rated he is in it. He was just soooo fucking good despite the fact that his character wasn't memorable in that Travis Bickle/Jake La Motta way.
Come to think of it, he's done shitloads a under-rated stuff.....
I liked him in 'The Fan' (despite what the world says)
I liked his bit in 'CopLand'
Though I liked him in 'Jackie Browm', I'm still kinda dissapointed that QT didnt write a more exciting role for him.
It's shocking how damn energetic he is in 'Rocky & Bullwinkle'
'Welcome the Thunderdome, bitch'

You're not alone in this. He was good there. Also in "Heat" and "The King Of Comedy" and "Analize..."... uh... (you know...the first one) is work was vastly underrated. He's great. He's fucking great.

De Niro Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer

LOS ANGELES - Actor Robert De Niro has been diagnosed with prostate cancer but is expected to recover fully, a spokesman said Monday.

Doctors for De Niro, 60, a two-time Academy Award winner, caught the cancer at an early stage during a regular health checkup within the past week, De Niro publicist Stan Rosenfield said.

De Niro is in otherwise excellent physical condition and doctors expect a full recovery, Rosenfield said. The publicist said De Niro did not want to disclose if he would be undergoing surgery or some other treatment.

"He's a private person and doesn't care to have his treatment out for public consumption," Rosenfield said.
