Kurt Russell Eyes Part in 'Fast 7′ (EXCLUSIVE)

After bringing out a fresh face in UFC star Ronda Rousey to join the cast of "Fast & Furious 7," Universal has moved onto veteran actor to join its acting ranks with Kurt Russell in negotiations to join the next installment.
No description on who Russell would be playing, but sources say it is the role that Uni originally offered to Denzel Washington — clearly showing its importance to the films story.
"Fast & Furious 7″ brings back most of its talent from the franchise, including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, producer Neal H. Moritz and writer Chris Morgan with James Wan coming on as director.
Moritz and Diesel return as producers.
No plot details have been unveiled yet, except that the film will return to Los Angeles after the previous five films were set in other locations. Co-President of Production Jeff Kirschenbaum and Creative Executive Jay Polidoro will oversee the project on behalf of Universal.
This May's "Fast & Furious 6″ is the highest grossing film for Universal, having made more than $750 million at the worldwide box office.
The CAA-repped Russell has taken it easy on how what roles he has taken in recent years with his last major film being Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof."
Universal officially shuts down Fast and Furious 7 indefinitely

In the only move possible after the tragic death of Paul Walker, Universal has indefinitely shut down production on FAST AND FURIOUS 7. While not supporting the rumors that they are scrapping the film and starting over, the studio is not rushing anything out of respect to Walker's family and the legacy of the franchise.
With production slated to start again in Abu Dhabi a few days ago with Paul Walker, the studio recognized that FAST AND FURIOUS 7 could not easily work around losing one of the main characters in the film. Universal issued the following statement about the decision.
"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker."

The death of Paul Walker left producers of Fast & Furious 7 facing a difficult decision on how best to move forward on a film series devoted to the thrills of reckless driving, while also sensitively handling the exit of a star who died doing exactly that. Fortunately, such stumbling blocks and moral quandaries can easily be handled by computers now: Sources close to the production tell New York Daily News that a combination of CGI, voice overdubbing, and body doubles may be used to give Walker's character the send-off that he was promised, and that those who remember what happened to Oliver Reed in Gladiator and Nancy Marchand in The Sopranos have feared.
"They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul's physique and they will be used for movement and as a base," that source says. "Paul's face and voice will be used on top using CGI." While this is still being classified as an "option," and Universal has yet to comment officially on how much of CGI Paul Walker—if any—will make it into the final film, the report says, "The studio feels confident fans of the franchise will feel satisfied with the result." And if not, it can always just create CGI audiences who will.

The article is kind of snarky, but I actually don't see anything wrong with this. Granted I don't really give a shit about the franchise, but using the tech to give his character a proper send-off is fine by me, like, morality-wise. These films are pretty much live-action cartoons to begin with, right?
