Obviously what you are doing right now is called (in my upcoming book of psychology at least) validation. I think it's a normal thing to do. People will reply, say anything, and then you're gonna do what you were subconsciently thinking of doing all along.

i realized that after i posted it and came back to edit my post before my idiocy was too widely noted.

it was, however, on a lifting mix that we listened to every day in a weight training class that i took last year along with the theme from rocky. the two are permanently associated with each other in my mind.

Gamblour.

What I've found to work best for working out is intense music that is constantly changing, so it keeps your brain stimulated and interested. I'd recommend...

1. Dream Theater - Stream of Consciousness
2. Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain
3. The Mars Volta - Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt/L'Via L'Viaquez (cool down during the salsa breaks)
4. System of a Down - Shimmy/Jet Pilot
5. Rage Against the Machine - Freedom
6. Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand/Ramble On

Basically, you can't go wrong with prog rock, punk rock, or classic rock. This set would be about 45 minutes long.
WWPTAD?

Sigur Rós

I normally choose music like Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Múm, Lali Puna, Notwist and Sigur Rós when I'm jogging/working out. I like music that doesn't kick me out of rhytm.
