Having already brought the plight of The Aviator to the screen in an Oscar-winning feature, helmer Martin Scorsese is now negotiating to take the director's chair on a documentary focused on Airbus, the creator of Europe's super jumbo jet. Scorsese would team with Spanish documentarian Jose Luis Lopez-Linares, who will be a co-director on the project.

According to Fotogramas, a Spanish movie magazine, the documentary will compare and contrast the building of a jumbo jet to that of a cathedral, with points of view coming from an architect, a factory worker and an engineer. The project will shoot in France, Germany and Spain.

Coleccion Inmortales will be the production company on the project. France's Rule 8 and Spain's Morena Films teamed up to create Coleccion back in 2003. The company aims to produce documentaries directed by high-profile filmmakers for theatrical release.

Coleccion previously worked with Oliver Stone on Looking for Fidel and Persona Non Grata. Spike Lee is now working with the company on Fusion, which will document dancer Joaquin Cortes' travels to Brazil to combine flamenco with Afro-Brazilian dancing.
