Yeah, he did!

This might be my favorite Scorsese movie. Much better than Goodfellas.

Mmmm... the black and white...

stupid Goodfellas, why does Goodfellas have to be so stupid?

Sadder than that is.. what the fuck was Costner being honoured for? We all know of the reputation of Redford.. but what was Costner all about? And people were talking about De Niro's charm in "Raging Bull".. I had some odd C renting night tonight, renting "The Cell", "Cries and Whispers" and "Casino" on DVD.. watching "Casino" for the 4th time now, I would say this is the movie where his charm comes out more than ever before in a Scorsese film. That's for damn sure.

That's weird man. I just watch Casino for the first time on Encore last night...loved it a lot. I've been wanting to see Cries and Whispers, that's on tv every once in awhile. I always try to start watching it in the middle, I hate doing that. I want to see it from the beginning.

Oh, and about Costner...I have no idea, it baffles me. Ask my film study teacher, she fucking loves Dances w/ Wolves and hates Scorsese flicks...or anything remotely violent for that matter. I'm sure she could give you a perfectly good reason for accepting his honoring.

Derek

Eminem has more Oscars than Martin Scorsese.
It's like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.

A little slanted reasoning though, don't you think? Since she loathes all that is violent how could she justify Costner winning even if she wanted to? Scorsese's movie are not about the violence.. but I love to hear people say they are.. because that's stupid.

and Derek, I wouldn't look at it that way because its a completely different category. Look at it as "Kevin Costner has an Oscar and Scorsese doesn't" See? Awful.

Raging Bull is simply awesome. I think the black and white really helps it alot. And what a cast !

As for Casino, I love it too. I don't know why so many people write it off as boring. For 3 hours it seemed like 90 minutes to me. I'll even go to the extent of saying I perfer it over Goodfellas.
