Best actress of her generation?
Discuss.
what generation is she in again?
Great in Requiem, good in Dark City, ok in Pollock, mediocre in A Beautiful Mind. Haven't seen Waking the Dead (sorry).

When did talk come up of her being the best? I thought she was the cutest maybe.........

When I said so. 8)
It sounds like none of you people have seen "Waking the Dead" or "Inventing the Abbots", so I suggest you hop to it. My intense admiration for her acting ability comes mainly from those films and "Requiem". And she
is the cutest, too. So she's got that going for her.[/b]
Well, then I advertise the question:
"Is Samantha Morton the best actress of her generation?"
Sweet and Lowdown, Jesus' Son and Minority Report all feature great performances by her that have set the bar for acting by a female for today, in my humble *laughs* opinion.
Also, who could forget her in the pretentious music video for U2's "Electrical Storm" where she was able to act with the drummer, who pretended to be an actor and summed up the experience by saying, "She was yelling at me really loud." She just happened to be the only watchable thing for in that video.

What about
The Rocketeer?
I loved her in
Requiem. It disappoints me that all the attention she recieved was for her performance in
A Beautiful Mind which hasn't got shit on
Requiem for a Dream either in movie terms or in terms of her performance (in my opinion). It would be nice to see her pick up some more great roles.
I do appreciate her taking the path of doing more 'serious' films rather than the shitty 'teen comedy' path she could have easily gone down (being as beautiful as she is).
I'm going to revise my original statement. Rather than calling her the best actress of her generation, maybe it's safer to say "best actress at her level of attractiveness."
I would fight to the death to make the point that there is no actress who is as attractive and as good an actress as Jennifer Connelly.
Well, maybe not to the death, but at least until somebody hurts their eye.

Naomi Watts.

Equally hot. Granted. Not quite as good an actress, though. Seriously, go see "Waking the Dead".
Good call, regardless.
Naomi Watts is way hotter

Let's just say I wouldn't turn either one away.

Ow, hitting below the belt... A girl's gotta make a living. And remember, she signed on to the damn thing BEFORE she won the Oscar.
Also... big fucking deal, the Hulk...
It's a chance to work with fucking Ang Lee. Same reason Tim Roth turned down Harry Potter for Planet of the Apes... so he could work with Burton.

Ya damn right!!! :-D
But...Naomi Watts is SUPER hott. But Jennifer Connely is FUCKING GORGEOUS.

I can see her and Tom Cruise together in the same movie. They'd have a lot of chemistry together.
Lady Finds MACBETH

Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly, who recently signed on to star with Kate Winslet in Todd Field's Little Children, will now be a part of the Todd Louiso adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Philip Seymour Hoffman is also set to star in the project, which will begin shooting at the end of the year.
Antidote Films, a New York-based production house, will be producing the film, with the company's Jeffrey Levy-Hinte producing with Mary Jane Skalski. Angus Finney of Renaissance Films will be the executive producer. Renaissance will handle worldwide sales.
Whoa, wait....PSH is MacBeth? Or just another character?

He could pull it off.
I would laugh, sorry, especially if it's a straight-up adaptation.

Why? Is it because he's portly? MacBeth can't be portly?
It's not that I don't believe he can't portray MacBeth and his rise and fall properly, I think PSH is a great actor. MacBeth has to be able to fight MacDuff, he has to be stately, he just doesn't look like the part.
And yes, he'd have to lose some weight to pull it off. I love PSH, but it all sounds strange, and besides, MacGuffin has not even replied back yet. And this is the JC thread.

You guys remember when Jennifer Connely looked healthy? Man, she was gorgeous back then.

Bear in mind that Todd Louiso directed "The 15 Minute Hamlet" (also starring PSH) which was pretty amusing, so that could be what they're going for, that kind of faithful in spirit but tongue-in-cheek in execution type of film.
No talk of the Jennifer Connelly on a pier phenomenon?

All of the directors claim it was a coincidence, how could that be? One must've seen Dark City and then the other saw Requiem for a Dream. I mean, I know you guys are aware of it, but...discuss
The answer is sex.
It's all about dat ass, and a pier ain't nothin' but a wooden land boner extended into the waters.
I think the Dark City pier was a coincidence, because it was in the script, and the writer hadn't seen Requiem. That's right, isn't it? I remember that from something. It's a good story.
I'm sure it was pointed out ten years ago when that all happened.
I think Dark City was a reference to La Jetee, Requiem could also be an homage to that since he randomly ripped from all kinds of films (Kurosawa, perfect blue, mean streets), and house of fog was a one hit indie wonder so the dude could have just been continuing the trend to get some cred.
