theres a movie equivalent topic for this, where you can share stories about actors and directors and such, so who else has gotten to meet some of their musical idols or even hang out with them?  (i personally have an obsession of getting my cds signed.)  so lets hear some stories?

i think i once spotted zack de la rocha but i was afraid that he would preach me so i didn't confront him.

My buddy who is -- and I'm not kidding -- the BIGGEST Oasis fan ever, has a great Noel Gallagher story. He lives in Canada, yet he was there at Wembley a couple years ago (he's actually in the dvd of Familiar To Millions -- front row!), as well as the Vegas gig with the Black Crowes, and the 10 Years Of Noise And Confusion shows all over England. Of course, among many others. He owns every bootleg, etc.

So, last year he took a trip to New York for the latest tour (he saw both shows). At the 2nd show, he's waiting outside for hours, Oasis' limo pulls out, and the Brothers exit. Somehow (he can't remember), amidst all the pushing, he finds himself over the gate, past the security, right next to Noel. They look at each other, saying nothing, then my buddy just leans in and hugs him, says "thank you for the music" or something, and shakes his hand. He said Noel looked so fucking unimpressed (probably at his security). Then my buddy got yanked back into the crowd. He was glad he hugged Noel and not Liam, because "Liam probably would've punched (him) out".

He also met and got his picture with Soundtrack Of Our Lives and The Music.
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

I met Lopez, Mendez, and Peter from Opeth (drums, bass, and 2nd guitar respectively) and I have a picture on the first page of the Opeth thread with me and Lopez.  They're really nice and Lopez kept asking everyone if they could score him some weed

wow, you really DID run out of ways to agree with me.  yeah im a prick, but pretty much you can meet just about anybody if you hang out afterwards by whatever exit of the club you are seeing them at.  i almost met the WU TANG CLAN but it was like 3 in the morning and they were getting into their many cars.  they did walk right past me however.

I've smoked weed with the Eels. They shared me and my buddy's weed and we shared their beers. It was a beautiful evening. From that evening was born the song "They smoked our weed! We drank their beer!"

Also met Mum at a gig in Toronto: they were just as sweet as their music suggests they should be. They thought they'd run out of albums to sell and sign when my friend was the next/last in the queue, so they told us to wait around in the bar. They came out and gave us a free album. Pretty damn cool. Beautiful, beautiful little Icelandic pixie twins... Ahhhh...

I've talked to the singer of Sigur Rós a couple of times. We are related.
That's just about it......

related in the way that all humans are 'related'?  or like, they're your dads?

Lol, "thank you for the music"...that is fucking hilarious. Seriously, that is really great, it sounds like something out of Almost Famous or something...what a great great funny moment.

I went to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live concert when I was very young and although I did not meet them there, I did meet them some years later at disney world. That's the most I can brag about.

bonanzataz

i went to that concert as well. i had it on video tape (i think they broadcast it on TV or something) but i taped over it with cry-baby.
