Pete Yorn - musicforthemorningafter

thanks agian for your suggestions....
comments:

i loved this one...thanks....thats more my style....

i'll get life_boys suggestions next.....please keep 'em coming..

Ghostboy

I haven't plugged my friends' band in a long time, and this is a good thread to do so. Their website is pretty sparse, but there are a few tracks from their first album available:

The Theater Fire

All of their downloadable tracks are good. I think I like Ne'er Too Late the most.

I'd add some Summerteeth from Wilco to this ever-growing list. Its poppy and catchy and there are some wonderful tunes on this album. I don't know if i'd consider it alt-country because i don't know who fits in this category anymore, its almost like calling something "punk" or "emo", the titles don't always fit the band or its music.
I still read no depression occasionally?
I really hate ryan adams and whiskeytown is boring

Regardless, I think NEON should definately check out Summerteeth if he hasn't already (it's Wilco's best album, in my opinion).  I wouldn't call it alt-country.  That's what A.M.'s for.

neon didn't like it.

Quote from: NEON MERCURYi use to own summeer teeth.  and its kind of cheesy.  and too poppy.  all the songs sound alike.  if you like the rembrants(i'll be there for you song) then you will love summer teeth.

Reinhold

absolutely everything by iron and wine is amazing.

might want to start with creek drank the cradle.

edit: try checking out the notwist. they're not really all that folky, but they have some a great mellow sound on Neon Golden that fits well with wilco and sufjan on mixes.

Obviously what you are doing right now is called (in my upcoming book of psychology at least) validation. I think it's a normal thing to do. People will reply, say anything, and then you're gonna do what you were subconsciently thinking of doing all along.

ABKman18

Any Neko Case fans out there?

The live album is great! and Blacklisted has so many good songs it's hard to choose which to play first.

so far only when she's in New Pornographers.  i haven't heard any of her actual solo stuff but i've been meaning to seek some out recently.

Yeah, Tone Poems is pretty chilled.  I'm glad you liked Bad Livers.  Do check out Lucero, though.  I love it.  It is drunk-depressed music that can get loud but often doesn't.  But it's not always acoustic.  At least, all this goes for their first album (self-titled), I can't vouch for their more recent stuff.  There's so many great songs on that first record.  I didn't like it much when I was first introduced to it, but it has grown on me a lot.  I can't believe I left it off my initial list.

polkablues

I can't believe I forgot this one... NEON, this will be exactly the sort of thing you were looking for: Grant Lee Phillips' "Ladies' Love Oracle".
My house, my rules, my coffee
