The acclaimed documentary is an extraordinary look at the soldiers and events of the Great War, using film footage captured at the time, now presented as the world has never seen. By utilizing state-of-the-art restoration, colorization and 3D technologies, and pulling from 600 hours of BBC archival interviews, Jackson puts forth an intensely gripping, immersive and authentic experience through the eyes and voices of the British soldiers who lived it.

Produced & Directed by: Peter Jackson

A gripping, beautifully rendered thread of film. The "Doco" portion at the end gives us insight to why Jackson frames this the way he does -- on a near epistolary scale. A non-historian making a film for non historians, to paraphrase, and it's effective at that, but admittedly, the man owns WWI weapons and uniforms and has access to kiwi artillery for the field recordings -- 100+ hourz of Imperial War footage! Without having an interest or eye for this sort of film/documentary, it feels exceptionally realized.

Peter Jackson gets across the priority they put into colorization and any one on this board will have a blast probably listening to the specifics on frame rate and seeing how they've been gel'd out clip by clip beyond "remastered" and toward fully-realized first-hand.
