You can tell that the captures up there are stretched tall, so the actual aspect ratio on the DVD must be wider when viewed squished back to normal proportions.

Hm.

A visual defence of City of God doesn't really work without the movement of the images or the hyperkinetic editing of them. Sure, the colours and lighting are both great, but the majority of what makes this film a visual treat is how the visuals move and get cut together.

Or maybe I'm just being anal.
