Cold War is a passionate love story between a man and a woman who meet in the ruins of post-war Poland. With different backgrounds and temperaments, they are fatally mismatched and yet fatefully condemned to each other. Set against the background of the Cold War in the 1950s in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris, the couple are separated by politics, character flaws and unfortunate twists of fate – an impossible love story in impossible times.

Directed by Pawel Pawlikowski (Ida)
Written by Pawel Pawlikowski, Janusz Glowacki, and Piotr Borkowski

Anyone else catch this? Thought it was wonderful, certainly the most visually sumptuous film of 2018 (sorry Beale Street, Roma). It's like a fucked-up take on the Before trilogy spread across fifteen years and a myriad of countries in post-WW2 ravaged Europe.

The ending, the very last shot in particular, is a thing of tragic gorgeosity - guess that's not really a spoiler, just the old T word gives away a bit too much

Highly recommended! Definitely altering my top ten to fit it.
