As I understand it, this was a thread from the old C&C days.
Now here's the Xixax Edition!
If you had the opportunity to meet any members from Xixax, who would it be and perhaps why?
GT, for his ability to always back up every single critisism he's got, and does the best bit of reviewing on the site.
Ghostboy and godardian, for our similarities. I've found we share views on mostly everything; film or politics.
Sigur: fun and nice guy. P: saving so much stuff for a real conversation. Neon: funny and likes Lynch. MacGuffin: omniscient and frendly. samsong: intelligent and young. Cinephile: sarcastic and performer.godardian: his smarts and much more. Fernando: fellow Mexican. Mr. BK: ... . Alexandro: fellow Mexican too. kotte: lovely guy. Thrindle: she's so cool. picolas: weird in avant-garde fashion. Stefen: funny . pete: terrific singer. JB: likes words. modage: hip guy, Ghostboy: no bullshit. All of you, basically.
ghostboy, cuz im convinced if anyone here were to make it, it'd be him.
cinephile, pubrick, stefen, myxamotosis, thrindle, godardian, pete
I want to meet all of you. Come over to my place at 6 p.m. Thursday for beers, barbecue and a Ratner Film Festival. Sound good?
Mogwai, Cronopio, P, GodDamnImDaMan, SowNowThen, Vile5, Cinephile, (Alguien)....argh I cannot make a list!
Hell, let's all meet up at Mac's crib!
i'd like to meet anyone with a heart and a pulse.
and what the hell would we talk about?
Quote from: mogwaii'd like to meet anyone with a heart and a pulse.

We don't have to talk.
I'd obviously like to meet some of them mythical "hot girls" that I keep on hearing about on this board.
Quote from: peteI'd obviously like to meet some of them mythical "hot girls" that I keep on hearing about on this board.
They only excist in Mac's imagination.
I want to meet Weak2ndAct the next time he meets Tarantino!
Seriously though (not that I wasn't serious above), I'd like to meet everyone, which is why I think the idea of a big Xixax get-together is a beautiful -- if at least mostly unattainable -- notion.
Of course, there is also the person I DON'T want to meet -- I'd be afraid that if I came across GodDamImTheMan in person, he would be really boring.
P is indeed popular !
I'd go for Sloth my best web pal
All the rest of you can go to hell if you ask me !             omg

Good thread...
GT - because I can harass him in his own thread and he takes me somewhat seriously. (Cuz I think I sort of am  )
Cinephile - because of his evil sense of humor.
Weak2ndAct - because dude can chain smoke, drink, and write like a motha fucka. I'd love to read more of his stuff.
Mac - because I just would (too much to elaborate).
Crono - because he is funner drunk.
Godardian - because it would be a free education.
Pas Rapport - because I enjoy his posts.
Bethie - because we made out that one time.
Oh yeah, and Pubrick - because although he never has anything nice to say to me, I pretend he's talking to someone else, and then it's funny.
EDIT - Molly too - because good golly, she understands my sappy GT posts.
Whoever's most popular. 'Cause I wanna be cool just like them!!!!!
Quote from: OnomatopitaWhoever's most popular. 'Cause I wanna be cool just like them!!!!!
then avoid me at all costs. And maybe aclockworkjj and thecowgoesmoooo
NEON, MrBK, slomb - might be entertaining. altho slomb wouldn't turn up cos he's weird like that.
GT, pete, Stefen, cronop - good ppl.
and bethie later, separately.
wildcard: Chest Rockwell, cos he's kinda cool now.
no admins, i'm sick of em. in a sick-of-ur-band-mates / sick-of-ur-family sort of way.
cinephile may be an exception cos he is the latest addition, so i don't hate him so much yet. also i imagine his unmasking would be sumthing like this..

it's hard to tell.
Are you comparing Slomb with Countess Olenska played by wonderful Michelle Pfeiffer in the movie The Age of Innocence? Otherwise I don't get it....
what are u, joe killer?
sigh.
slomb can be either character, i'm comparing the world he lives in to the world depicted by edith wharton in her 1920 novel and brought to life in the martin scorsese motion picture "The Age of Innocence" (1993), where everything is left unsaid.
I wish slomb would hold my uncovered wrist during a carriage ride...
I want to meet all the admins cuz I feel like they're the only ones that read what I say.
I'd like to meet (tremolo) Slombthrj because I'll bet he has candy in his pocket.
I'd like to meet GT because I know he's probably the EXACT opposite of what you would expect.
I'd like to meet that chick from Project Greenlight that showed up here for three posts because she's famous and shit.
I'd like to meet mogwai, neon and bethie plus everyother pearl jam fan.
Pandaroyal because he's a porto fan. P., GT, molly, cronopio, vile5, sigur, ghostboy....
shit let's all meet and go see a kusturica film
Quote from: ThrindlePas Rapport - because I enjoy his posts.
Thrindle - because I fall in love with every woman that shows me the least bit of attention.

ebeaman cuz i talk to him all the time anyways
I wouldn't really mind meeting anyone presently here... some more than others, of course, but I don't want to spell out my entire mental hierarchy of interest here, so... maybe Macguffin first of anyone, just 'cos he's always struck me as the tiniest bit mysterious and intriguing.

I'd meet everyone else but those are the people I think get my sense of humor as well as I get theirs.
I'd meet everyone else just to have people I could borrow money from.

Well I'm probably too much of a nervous little boy to really consider meeting anyone. But aside, I like anyone that PMs me with comments other than "Your mother gave me a handjob in her car."
Godardian sounds like a really intelligent individual. (Types, rather).
Macguffin so I could just see what he looks like. No offense, but what kind of face belongs to a man who the Xoogle of this site? I can't begin to fathom it. If I met him I'd apologize for the redirects, though I think he secretly likes to do them.
Molly so I could really show her would Kookookajoob means.
P so we could resolve our differences. I don't mean to sound noble, it's just that there always seems to be some sort of negative tension between us whether it be from him to me or vice versa.
Gold Trumpet just to listen to him rant because he seems like one who would ramble aimlessly. (And yet, he also gives off vibes that he only rants so much online to show how introverted he is)
Sigur because he just seems so damned cool.
Pete also seems like a cool guy.
wlarus, that av is brilliant! i never saw that episode.
Quote from: bonanzatazwlarus, that av is brilliant! i never saw that episode.
I might just start watching Simpsons again because of that avatar.
P and Ghostboy, among others.
Duderino - is on my list, because he is a fellow Van Morrison fan.
Myself.
Mac- Because Im curious
Alguien- Because our time on the board was too short
ACJJ- Because he is the person who from this board I have had the best internet friendship and we still talk all the time
Ghost Boy- Cause he seems like he really is going places and is talented
TheModernage- Cause we have similar tastes and i would love to sit with him and bullshit about horror flicks for hours
Weak2ndAct- Cause i want to see if he is full of shit or not
Shaftr- Cause we could hang and watch some KS flicks

I would love to meet all of you because it's so rare to meet people whose favorite movies don't include Bad Boys II or Big Mama's house or any other piece of shit mindless junk. I've actually grown to love many of the older films you guys talk about here and appreciate film much more so. Thanks a bunch for that :-D

Xixax members I wouldn't mind meeting:
Picolas -- very interesting, nice, talented guy. Also generous with advice.
NEON MERCURY -- I think so many of his posts are brilliant.
Cinephile -- He called me a "pussy," something I don't usually get called.
MacGuffin -- i don't know. same reasons listed by everyone else.
Godardian -- seems interesting, and also knowledgeable on many things that interest me.
Taz -- Anyone who loves John Waters that much is a-okay.
Withnail -- he greeted my kindly when I joined here. and he doesn't seem as mean-spirited as some of The Others
And also that guy who made the movie where he stabs himself in the chest and takes out a little candy for Valentine's Day. That was cool.

well, you could go 4 different ways IMO.
since you already have seen some of his more biziarre material you could either.
1. keep going and watch 'lost highway' and 'wild at heart'
2. take a detour and watch some of his more mainstream material like 'elephant man' and 'the straight story'
3. or you could watch 'twin peaks[fire walk w/ me]' which would lead down a diferent path towards obessesion and you will be forced to watch the entire series of twin peaks. honestly, i saw fire walk w/ me BEFORE i saw twin peaks[tv series]. and i still loved every moment of that series despite already being spoiled by seeing the film first.
4. lastly, you could watch 'dune' :|
in other words, you can watch any of his films you haven't seen.
Quote from: cronopioin other words, you can watch any of his films you haven't seen.
don't deny the world of vapid conversation, u concise speaker u..

Have you two met before? Or was this like "hey", "hey", "I like Xixax", "OMG Me too!"?
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how the hell that subject even came up.
well, if we had xixax t-shirts, that problem would be solved, now, wouldn't it?
kotte - i get the sense he is very conscious of every post he makes (a quality that i could benifit from; highly respectable). very concise! and he seems like an intellectual yet chill kinda guy. doesn't throw shit in your face.
pete - because he was the first guy i hated, and now actually appreciate a lot. one of the few posters who doesn't give a candy-coated response, it's always no bullshit. that is often an under-appreciated quality.
cinephile - because everyone on this thread has been saying how great he is but my only experience has been in opposition to his views and conduct (and in all fairness i can only assume the feeling is mutual). i'm always up for was is real. and if reality proved my notions wrong about this then all the better.
mac - because i'd like to talk film with him. very often he provides the information on the details, but i would like to hear his opinions on film theory and fun; what he loves and hates.
-sl-
OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT, SOCKETLEVEL?

alexandro's in town and gave me his number so maybe he'll be the first member i'll get to meet in the 'real life'. i haven't changed my mind much about who i want to meet, i'd just say it must be tonsa fun to hang around in nyc with meatwad and modage .
just so everyone knows, cos i'm pretty sure no one noticed except crono.. everything from this post onwards:
Quote from: modageout of a billion people in new york, this morning i ran into mutinyco on the train.
is NEW, everything BEFORE that is from
2004. modage did a tricky thing (i'm guessing unintentionally), reviving the thread
sep 21 2005 after the last post had been
Sep 20 200
4. looks seamless even if u looked at the dates
so every opinion before modage's can't be taken as 100% accurate anymore. eg. cinephile was a more ubiquitous figure, starting classic threads like it was his job; godardian actually existed; etc.
signed, Captain Obvious.

Two Lane Blacktop so we can listen to some music.
How many people are actually in NY, or LA, or one of those cities?
If there is a big group, it would be cool to organize some kind of reunion... even if it is for a film festival or something like that... but it would be cool
If by cool you mean awkward.
i think mod, mutinyco, myself and stefen are reasonably close to nyc
i'm right outside nyc
Quote from: GamblourIf by cool you mean awkward.
Totally. I'm picturing it now. A room full of people who don't look at all like you imagine them. We'd all feel like a blind person who just regained his sight, only to find his wife wasn't as attractive as he thought she was.
Or worse... we'd all meet, only to discover we had nothing at all to talk about. The irony would be
debilitating.
i think we all know a xixax member in "real life" but we don't realize it. one of those 0-post fuckers probably lives next door to you.

What the hell ?
Whoa, who knows. Drunken post gone seriously awry. I could have sworn P said something about the meeting of Mutinyco being last year. Whatever no point in salvaging.
If we all got together to watch a movie, by the time we agreed on something, we probably wouldn't make it through the first quarter until people started talking by interjecting their own lines, throwing out facts, asking questions and/or saying what we should've watched.
I'd be fine with a storycircle where we're sitting cross legged indian style and MrBurgerKing would just go on and on.
we should get one of those World maps with dots showing where all of us is from.
that'd be fun
Pubrick & Cinephile - Because I learned a little something about being honest and upfront.
Thrindle - I think I'm like the rest of the regular lurkers/posters here who are just plain curious.
GDIDM - I gotta see the persona behind his image. There must be more to him than pimping all of our mothers.
didn't thrindle once have an avatar w/ her photo in it?
baleted!
i just saw Thumbsucker with Samsong, but we didn't sit together and he left an hour into the movie. but we waved.

Nah, more like stilettos and listen to David Gray. (totally ruined mental image... haha)
I'd want to meet the inner me...
Aka...
My anus.

This sounds very familiar. I dated a girl about two years ago who loved David Gray and Dave Matthews Band. She was a super freak too. Man, I've never met a woman in my life who had such an appetite for sex. It was pretty damn appealing for about one week. Then the whole "mystery" thing that women have going for them was totally lost for me on her. We dated off and on for about 6 months before it ended up not working out.
Are you a freak Thrindle? :P
Quote from: MyxoAre you a freak Thrindle? :P
Haven't been lately... keeping the mystery alive I suppose...
Now back to the actual point of the thread... I'm thisclose to being called a hijacker (as always).

thanks for the heads-up.
nobody answered the question in that thread. facebook is nothing like a blogsite, actually. it's main purpose is to help people meet each other.
as always, though, your almost frighteningly comprehensive memory and mastery of the search function to point out the inefficiencies of others is much appreciated.
edit:
sorry for the snipe. i'm writing a bullshit history paper about some greeks killing each other in an insignificant battle (literally... that's the point of the paper-- to write about a basically insignificant battle). i haven't slept in more than 24 hours; it's been entirely too long since i've gotten layed.
and i'm a prick.
Quote from: Reinhold Messnersorry for the snipe.
You call that a snipe? I thought it was good, old fashioned, xixax sarcasm.
That wasn't the snipe... you should've seen his post pre-edit.
He'd probably deny it, though.

i saw the pre-edit, it was the same post without the edit part.
maybe i missed sumthing, anyway, next.
we should totally meet for group counseling.

pete's a cool dude with a colorful style and about two minutes after we met up on the sidewalk, cute girls are cycling by going "ey! Pete!". you've got that neighborhood under control man :)
hope to hang more next time, was too brief
You guys are lucky.
The closest I've come to meeting someone from here was when I was being stalked by flagpolespecial. (http://xixax.com/index.php?topic=1056.msg229150#msg229150)

That would scare the shit outta me! I bet you guys went to the same high school or something and he was always your secret admirer. Did he ever offer any sort of explanation of how he knew who the F you are? If not, I would say that's a bannable offense, encroaching on your privacy like that.
shameless plug for 'People Who Eat Darkness' :
"There is nothing like the suspicion that you're being followed to open your senses to the World around you. Over the next few weeks, Tokyo took on a dreamlike sheen and burnish, as if shot through exquisite filters by a visionary cinematographer. Details to which I had never before paid attention suddenly glowed with powerful and sinister significance- Cameras, sunglasses, the color and make of parked vehicles, the clothes and features of people I passed in the street. I found myself living every moment as if I might have to give a detailed account of it, under oath."

intro:
i was reading... [checks browser history]... i was reading this "Tarantino and Godard" thread
http://xixax.com/index.php?topic=3942.0
which i spotted because i like to check the "users online" section while i'm visiting, i guess to see what anyone is doing, although not really for that reason, because i'm positive i've only used that section to find weird threads being visited by guests (usually, although it's also funny to see registered users browsing old threads for no conversational purpose), and it's common that guests are "Printing the topic" although that might just be describing how they're reading the thread, i think choosing print changes the format, but maybe random internet people also print our topics and read them. the internet is definitely creepy. the internet being creepy is kinda the topic. seems appropriate.
what happened:
i always enjoy seeing godardian. he's from xixax's past. he's been gone for a long time. hopefully reelist sends him messages with kisses and all that, to bring him back. he still has a www globe under his username, so i clicked it and i was brought to his old blog. i can also relate to godardian via having an old blog. a movie blog of course. something about this guy, idk, something about him made me think he was definitely still talking about movies. and what did i do next? his real name was on his blog, so i put his real name in google, of course. there he appeared in front of me, still talking movies
godardian today:

http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2397753-christopher-mcquain
that's for sure him, given the name, the location, and the types of movies. definitely him. if you ever wondered about godardian like i have, he's still a movie person. yesssss
[edit]
i was trying to decide what i wanted to do with his list of dvdtalk reviews. i needed a list thing. so i arranged them by "Recommendation" and here are godardian's highest recommendations:

Yay, that was nice. I only just got to read it because I haven't had internet for the past while, except for my phone, and I wanted to read and respond on a big boy computer.
But it was a lovely time, and I really enjoyed meeting you!
