how can i get in touch with a musician to get rights to his or her music for a film?

Well, I always use Harry Fox to find out who owns the rights and then contact them or the record company directly.

i'll use this thread title to ask a question:

why do Rolling Stones songs used in film rarely make the soundtrack?

does anyone know the actual reason? i'm guessing they ask too much or just refuse, but i haven't heard. it sucks because their songs always play so great in Wes Anderson movies. it works for the Stones though because it's made me buy all of the albums with those songs on it............so that might be the reason.
