I used to love this show as a kid, but hardly remember it at all now. i know they issued a lot of it on video, but will there ever be a DVD? i ought to start one of those ineffective petitions. THAT'LL show em! stickin' it to the man, old school.

I was a big fan of this show. Scream whenever someone said the secret word the rest of the day. How cool is it that Cowboy Kurtis would go on to "The Matrix"? I also had a crush on Miss Yvonne.

One of the few episodes I can remember is the Christmas episode, with all those special guests.  They made Christmas cards with potatoes or something.....the word of the day was also my favorite part of the show.

'Pee-Wee' Pleads Guilty to Obscenity

LOS ANGELES - "Pee-wee Herman" actor Paul Reubens was sentenced to three years probation Friday after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor obscenity charge involving photographs seized from his erotica collection.

The former star of the "Pee-wee's Playhouse" children's TV show and two "Pee-wee" movies won't be allowed unsupervised contact with minors during the probation period. He also agreed to pay a $100 fine, enter counseling for a year, and agreed to register as a sex offender for the duration of his probation.

Prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor charge of child pornography stemming from a search of Reubens' home in November 2001 in which police seized about 30,000 images from his photography collection and personal computers.

Reubens, 51, who did not appear in court Friday, pleaded guilty through his attorney to possession of obscene materials with the intent to distribute or exhibit. During a court hearing Thursday, Reubens acknowledged possessing 170 images of minors engaged in sexual conduct, said Eric Moses, a spokesman for the city attorney's office.

Evidence seized included images of minors with their genitals exposed, Moses contended.

"That mischaracterizes the art collection seized," Reubens' lawyer, Blair Berk, said Friday. "If that means a black-and-white tintype from 1901 with a young man of indeterminate, 17- to 19-year-old age, laying on the beach after having gone skinny-dipping ... then they got it."

She also said the plea agreement did not specify the number of images, and said Reubens' intent was to exhibit the images and not distribute them.

In a statement, Reubens said he was glad that the child pornography charge had been dismissed without "a costly circus-like trial."

In 1991, Reubens pleaded no contest to an indecent exposure charge after his arrest in Sarasota, Fla., for allegedly exposing himself in a movie theater.

His fans may call him "different" or "freaky," but actor Paul Reubens, who rose to fame as kids' television show host Pee-wee Herman, wants people to know he is neither a pedophile nor a child pornographer. In his first interview since pleading guilty earlier this month to possessing obscene material after a two-year criminal probe targeting him, Reubens told Entertainment Weekly magazine that nude photos seized from his home were "kitschy, funny stuff from the 1940s, 50s or 60s." "Ninety percent of anybody off the street who looked at the stuff would burst out laughing and say, 'You're kidding me,"' he said in the magazine's issue that hits newsstands Friday. "You can say that I'm different, that I'm freaky, that I'm weird. You can say lots of stuff about me. But you can't say I'm a pedophile. That's just not part of who I am. I am not a child pornographer," Reubens said. "I didn't want to spend a million dollars and put myself in the poor house," he said of his reason for reaching a plea deal. The comic actor said he is working on a few television and movie ideas, and that Hollywood, he hopes, hasn't seen the last of Reubens or his altar-ego, Pee-wee. "Does anyone come back from this? I don't know the answer to that," he said. "but I'll be damned if I'm going to let this destroy me." (Reuters)
