Though if I were him I may be sick of everyone else's bullshit, too.  I think his "Hollywood actor" response on SNL is all the more fitting now.

Ben is an OK guy in my book.  He hasn't cut his ties with the indie world, as he has sponsored Project Greenlight and still appears in low-budget indie films.  And as for his close buddy Matt Damon, it is hard to imagine another huge movie star appearing in something as uncommercial as Gerry.

i didn't know he and Kevin Smith weren't getting along.
is this old news?

Regarding his participation in helping re-write and ad-lib on "Surviving Christmas," Affleck said, "My writing is sacred. Other people's is dull. No. If you had a Tom Stoppard script you would be wise not to try improvising much, you know, you just like speak the words as they are written precisely. But if you have a dog s--- script or even something that is decent but requires some fixing, then you just do that."

Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms..

On a related note, what's up with this? (http://imdb.com/title/tt0166222/)

Affleck directed a movie called "I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney"? Hmm. This one deserves closer investigation.

Wowwwwwww..... what the fuck??? Ben always seemed to have a great sense of humour, and judging by the title, that can be hilarious.

Affleck Seeks JUSTICE
Oscar winner Adrien Brody is already attached to star in the story chronicling the death of TV's Superman.
Source: FilmStew.com

Ben Affleck has signed on and Diane Lane is in negotiations to star in Truth, Justice and the American Way for Focus Features and helmer Allen Coulter. The project is scheduled to begin shooting during the summer with Glenn Williamson producing under his Back Lot Pictures banner, which has a first-look deal with Focus.

Paul Bernbaum penned the original draft of the script, which was rewritten by Howard Korder. Affleck stars as George Reeves, who was shot to super-stardom playing Superman on the small screen. Reeves met a tragic and sudden death in 1959, however. Truth will focus on an LA investigator (Adrien Brody) trying to solve the mystery of the death. Lane will star as Toni Mannix, the wife of a studio head who had been linked romantically to Reeves.

Affleck in Die Hard 4?
May star opposite Bruce Willis.
Source: IGN.FILMFORCE

John McClaine may have a sidekick in Die Hard 4. According to Massachusetts newspaper The Shirley Oracle (via Dark Horizons), Ben Affleck could star alongside aging action hero Bruce Willis in the forthcoming flick.

Willis and Affleck have become good friends since appearing together in 1998's Armageddon. They had hoped to work together on Tears of the Sun, but that fell through and the plan to collaborate again was shelved, until recently, when Willis suggested Affleck for the next Die Hard movie.

Affleck would reportedly play John McClaine's adult son who is also a cop.

Little else is known about the film's storyline.  Willis recently told Empire magazine, "The script will be done by summer and they want to shoot it in the fall.  McClane's retired, he's not a cop anymore. It's completely different from the other three films."

There are rumors that Willis' character my be killed-off in the next film. These are unsubstantiated, but it's entirely possible. Maybe the franchise would then be handed off to Affleck? The Gigli star may be in need of a new franchise since rumor has it that Paramount may drop him from future Jack Ryan films.

Assuming the Die Hard 4 goes ahead, it'll probably arrive in theaters in Summer 2006.

Affleck Signs Up for Debut as Film Director

He hit it big as a screenwriter, rose and fell as an actor, and even dabbled in presidential politics, and now Ben Affleck is trying his hand in the director's chair.

The actor who won an Oscar for co-writing 1997's "Good Will Hunting" with his buddy Matt Damon , has signed up to direct a movie titled "Gone, Baby, Gone," for The Walt Disney Co.'s Touchstone Pictures, a Disney spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

The film is adapted from writer Dennis Lehane's novel of the same name. Lehane also wrote "Mystic River," which was turned into an Oscar-nominated movie in 2003 by actor/director Clint Eastwood .

The novel "Gone, Baby, Gone," tells of two working class private detectives in Boston, Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro, who are hired to search from a missing child.

The film version is expected to begin shooting this fall in Boston.

Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner wed, expecting baby

Hollywood couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who battled each other on screen in the action film "Daredevil," have married and are expecting their first child, their publicists said on Thursday.

No further details were provided, but Us Weekly magazine reported that the couple tied the knot on Wednesday at the Parot Cay resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the British colony southeast of the Bahamas, and that their baby is due this fall.

Affleck, 32, celebrated his last days as a single man with a bachelor party on Friday while Garner, 33, finished shooting her upcoming movie, "Catch and Release," in Vancouver, the magazine said.

Among the guests at the wedding, according to Us Weekly, was actor Victor Garber, who is Garner's co-star on the ABC television drama "Alias."

Affleck and Garner first worked together on the 2001 film "Pearl Harbor" and co-starred in the 2003 film based on the Marvel comics superhero "Daredevil," leading to Garner's big-screen spinoff role in this year's "Elektra."

The couple were widely reported to have begun dating last year, months after Affleck and former girlfriend Jennifer Lopez called off their highly publicized engagement.

By contrast, Affleck and Garner have maintained a low profile as a couple. Their representatives had steadfastly refused to acknowledge reports that they had become engaged or were expecting a baby.

Garner filed for divorce from her first husband, actor Scott Foley, in 2003, after 2-1/2 years of marriage.

Affleck, Damon Together Again

After all these years together, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are finally making it legal.

The Oscar-winning Boston buddies will reunite onscreen in an untitled drama inspired by two real-life attorneys, who fight a 15-year battle to free an innocent man on death row, Daily Variety reports.

Save a couple of cameos in Kevin Smith's Dogma and Jersey Girls, the twosome hasn't headlined a movie together since 1997's Good Will Hunting, for which they shared the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Affleck will play Michael Banks and Damon, J. Gordon Cooney, two lawyers at a Philadelphia firm who work pro bono on the appeal of John Thompson, who claims he was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to death. The attorneys manages to win nine stays of execution over the next decade and a half and eventually overturn the conviction and have Thompson cleared of all charges.

The film, which will be distributed by Disney's Touchstone Pictures division, is being produced by Affleck and Damon's Live Planet shingle. Chris Murphey has been tapped to write the script. As part of the movie deal, the companies acquired the life-story rights to the attorneys and Thompson for an unspecified sum.

Live Planet is the multimedia outfit that hatched Damon and Affleck's now-scotched reality series Project Greenlight. It's also developing for Miramax Gone Baby Gone, the story of two Beantown private detectives investigating a girl's kidnapping. The film is based on a novel by Dennis Lehane and is expected to mark Affleck's feature directing debut.

That project is scheduled to start shooting this summer in Boston. No word when Affleck and Damon will roll cameras on the death row story.

Besides Gone, Affleck has three more movies in the pipeline: playing an assassin in Joe Carnahan's Las Vegas crime comedy Smoking Aces, going up, up and away as original Superman actor George Reeves in the mystery Hollywoodland, and appearing in Smith's highly anticipated sequel Clerks II.

Damon, who's currently in theaters in Syrnana, has been in the Dominican Republic shooting Robert De Niro's CIA film The Good Shepherd, costarring De Niro and Angelina Jolie. This December he stars with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson in Martin Scorsese's crime drama The Departed. He's also signed on to reprise his role as Jason Bourne for The Bourne Ultimatum and is likely to be in the cast of Ocean's 13, if the sequel gets off the drawing board.

With news of their legal drama circulating, Damon and Affleck can finally put aside the rumors spread by OK! magazine that the actors were ready to take over the roles immortalized by Paul Newman and Robert Redford in 1969's Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

"There's no truth, never was," Affleck's rep, Ken Sunshine, tells E! Online. "Never any thought about Butch Cassidy, never any meetings about it. It's just not true."

Ben & Matt's Next Movie
Source: Us Weekly

Oscar alert! Nearly 10 years after Ben Affleck, 34, and Matt Damon, 36, snagged Hollywood's highest honor for cowriting Good Will Hunting, the wonder boys are working together on a new screenplay, an insider tells Us Weekly.

"They're really excited about it," says the source.

The childhood pals wrote GWH during the early '90s.

And what a difference a decade makes!

Then, the struggling actors shared an apartment in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Now the screen idols have spent two weeks getting their creative juices flowing in a $13,000-a-week house in Kauai, Hawaii.

"Ben and Matt keep taking breaks to go surfing and hang out with their families," adds the source. "But for the most part, they've been writing together on this trip."

Ben Affleck's Next May Be Tales From the Gangster Squad
Source: ComingSoon

Warner Bros. has asked Ben Affleck to direct Tales From the Gangster Squad, reports Vulture.

Adapted from a series of L.A. Times articles, Gangster Squad explores the true story of a band of secret "off the record" police task force who went after Meyer Harris "Mickey" Cohen, a high-profile gangster who was a member of the "Jewish Mafia" in the 1940's. The screenplay has been drafted by former L.A. cop and novelist Will Beall.

At this time, Affleck has not accepted the offer and is allegedly weighing the project against a few other options.

Ben Affleck picks 'Argo' lead: Ben Affleck
Alan Arkin, John Goodman in final talks to co-star
By JEFF SNEIDER; Variety

EXCLUSIVE: Finding a leading man can be difficult these days, but director Ben Affleck has found the perfect one for "Argo": He cast himself.

Affleck is set to star as Tony Mendez, the CIA exfiltration expert who created a fake Hollywood production to get six Americans who were hiding out at the Canadian ambassador's out of Iran. Alan Arkin and John Goodman are in final negotiations to co-star in Warner Bros.' Tehran hostage crisis pic as Hollywood producer Lester Siegel and Oscar-winning makeup artist John Chambers, respectively. George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing the political drama through their Smokehouse banner along with David Klawans ("Nacho Libre").

Chris Terrio adapted Joshuah Bearman's April 2007 Wired magazine article, titled "How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue American from Tehran," which told how the CIA and the Canadian government teamed to rescue six U.S. diplomats who'd been taken hostage at the American embassy by a group of Iranians in 1979. The CIA's ruse involved the explanation that the six hostages were actually a Hollywood film crew scouting a movie titled "Argo," and using those fake identities, they were able to flee the country.

Affleck previously directed himself to both critical and commercial acclaim in WB's "The Town," which went on to gross more than $154 million worldwide. Helmer just started negotiations to direct a remake of French thriller "Tell No One" for Warner Bros and Universal, and he's also producing "Father Daughter Time" for the studio. As a thesp, Affleck recently wrapped Terrence Malick's next untitled pic.

Affleck is repped by WME.

Ben Affleck Aims First Person Shooter Style 'Line Of Sight' As Next Directing/ Starring Project
Source: Playlist

Even as Ben Affleck is heading into production on his next film, "Argo," everyone still wants a piece of "The Town" director. He's been eyeing a handful of potential projects, with "American Bullshit" crossing his desk earlier this year, the sci-fi project "Replay" (which he has since moved on from), and he's still got the New York Yankee wife swap tale "The Trade" somewhere in development. Just a couple of months ago he signed on to direct the long gestating American remake of "Tell No One," but now a new project looks to be in line as followup to "Argo," and it's certainly the most tentpole-esque piece of material Affleck has been associated with (at least in the director's chair).

THR reports that Affleck is looking to direct and star in the thriller "Line Of Sight." The plot "centers on an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat." Sounds pretty dry, and here's the twist: the movie will be told from the perspective of the protagonist, just like a first-shooter game, which sounds unbelievably dreadful. Here's the thing with first person shooter games: really fun to play, really, really boring to watch. We're getting nauseous just thinking about dealing with an entire movie where the camera will be whipping around with just that limited perspective. Perhaps it shouldn't be a shock then that the latest draft of the script was penned by "Halo: Reach" writer Peter O'Brien. Can't this just be an action/thriller/whatever without literally turning it into a video game?

Anyway, we're not too worried. Affleck will begin shooting "Argo" next month with Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin and Scoot McNairy and it's likely he'll be circling/ offered even more projects between now and when he's ready to make his next film. So he's got plenty of time and will certainly have plenty of options before choosing his next gig. But seriously Ben? Your career doesn't need the help of the the generally brainless productions Joel Silver is involved in to keep moving.

'Argo's Ben Affleck At Center Of Warner Bros Deal For Nathaniel Philbrick Book 'Bunker Hill'
BY MIKE FLEMING JR | Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has just closed a high six-figure against seven-figure deal for screen rights to Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution, a book by Nathaniel Philbrick that will be published April 30 by Viking. The project was acquired for Pearl Street Films as a potential directing vehicle for Argo helmer Ben Affleck, who partners in the company with Matt Damon. Word is that Affleck (who is busy adapting the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night to direct, star in and produce) will turn the book over to his Argo scribe Chris Terrio, making this a major project.

Philbrick is the author of Mayflower and the National Book Award-winning In The Heart Of The Sea, the real story beyond the white whale that informed Moby Dick, and the struggle of the whalers to survive after the giant whale split their ship in half. That book has long been at Warner Bros and looks like it is finally getting made later this year with Ron Howard directing and Thor's Chris Hemsworth starring.

Resolution's Rich Green brokered the movie deal for Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency, and Pearl Street president Jennifer Todd moving aggressively to bring the book into the fold, with Sarah Schechter overseeing for the studio.

Affleck, who until Argo had directed movies in the Boston backdrop where he grew up, is going home again as Bunker Hill is hailed as the battle that lit the fuse for the American Revolution in 1775.

The unease between Bostonians and British troops turned violent after the Boston Tea Party, when violent sieges erupted in Lexington and Concord and a British blockade led to outright war in the Battle of Bunker Hill, a bloody clash that united the colonies and started the war for independence. The story is told from a group of participants, including a 33-year-old physician named Joseph Warren, who becomes a leader of the Patriot cause; Paul Revere, George Washington, British General Thomas Gage, and others.

Ben Affleck To Star In David Fincher's 'Gone Girl' For Fox/New Regency Before Directing Warner Bros' 'Live By Night'
BY MIKE FLEMING JR | Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Ben Affleck is in negotiations to play the lead role in David Fincher's Gone Girl, a development that will seal the Fox project pic as Fincher's next film to direct. In the pic, based on the Gillian Flynn bestseller, Affleck will play a husband whose wife disappears on the day of their fifth anniversary, and all roads point to him as the killer. Fox made a 7-figure deal for the novel last July for Pacific Standard's Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea, along with Leslie Dixon, to produce.

Flynn wrote the first draft of the screenplay. There is no female lead yet as it looks like Witherspoon is only producing. Fox recently brought on New Regency as a financing partner. Affleck's casting is interesting because it means Warner Bros is allowing him to push back his next directing and starring project, the adaptation of the Dennis Lahane novel Live By Night, which he continues to prep. Shooting on Gone Girl is set to shoot this fall, and the thinking is Affleck will be able to finish up and still get Live By Night done for the end of 2014. I'm hearing that Affleck reached out to Warner Bros' brass over the Fourth of July holiday, and the studio behind his Oscar-winner Argo made a fast and concerted effort to give him a quick answer and let him do something it didn't stand to gain from. All this certainly signals that Warner Bros and Affleck plan to be in business together for the long haul, a relationship the studio was keen to preserve especially following the departure of Jeff Robinov, the just-exited former President of Warner Bros Pictures Group with whom Affleck had a "dream relationship".

The studio had wasted little time setting Affleck's follow-up to Best Picture Oscar winner Argo, beginning pre-production in May on Live By Night, about a black-sheep son of a police captain who gets involved in escalating levels of organized crime. Affleck is also producing as he did with Argo. Warner Bros acquired Live By Night in April 2012 when it was in galley form for Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran's Appian Way, which had a pre-existing relationship with Affleck and produces with his Warners-based Pearl Street.

Fincher and Fox had been developing Gone Girl since since January. This is now his next project, ahead of Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: Captain Nemo. He's repped by Josh Donen and attorney Craig Jacobson.

Affleck the actor is next up in another Fox pic, Runner Runner, an action drama set in the world of offshore online gambling co-starring Justin Timberlake, Anthony Mackie and Gemma Arterton. It comes out September 27. Affleck's repped by WME.
