Title: The Tragically Hip
Post by: Thrindle on March 05, 2006, 11:56:58 AM
Any of you ever listen to The Hip?  They are a staple here in Canada... but elsewhere they aren't so well known.  Basically it's great music that has great writing as well.  Gord Downey, the lead singer, is the quintessential poet...

I must admit, this thread is being created to "give back" to those on the Board that showed my the love of Ryan Adams.

So go and download "Nautical Disaster", "38 Years Old", "Bobcageon", or "Courage"...  as a start of course.

Nobody in the US that I've ever mentioned the Tragically Hip to had ever heard of them before.  On the other hand, everybody from Canada that I've talked to knows them.

I haven't listened to much of them, but I like what I've heard.  "Courage" is a fantastic song, though I have to say I like better the version that Sarah Polley sings at the end of "Sweet Hereafter".

Maybe I'll track down some more of their stuff.
