IT'S
PERFECT!!!!!
Oh yeah, it's perfect, all right. It's just not correct.
I like Ridley Scott, but number 5 above all those others? The others seem to fit, but just not in that order. And then there are some personal favorites missing, like PTA, Linklater. I'd like to see Malick on there and maybe even David Gordon Green, for that matter. Actually there are so many that I'd want to see that it just would never be right until I can fit 50 in there.
But hey, I'll be on that list someday. 40 years from now, I'll own all of those mofos. (That's how it goes; you've gotta shoot for the top)
Peter Jackson.....
What the hell.

Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, Dead Alive and Heavenly Creatures
a bit disappointed not to see PTA or Lynch.....
or John Waters
[edit] and of course I forgot about Bergman
I'd say Scott and Spielberg don't belong
..Ridley Scott is on that list.
It's automatically shite.
Peter Jackson? I'm disappointed in Empire voters. How does Lynch not make that list? Godard? Bergman? There are an aweful lot of wonderful people missing.

Not a surprising magazine list. I would bet that an Xixax Greatest Directors list wouldn't look too much different (once all the votes were in). It might even look worse. It might look a lot like this (http://xixax.com/index.php?c=2).
no robert altman??? or godard or truffaut???
Swap Peter Jackson For Fellini
Swap Ridley Scott for Bergman
Swap QT for Anotnioni
Wilder and Kazan as well.
As much as I love Tarantino & PTA's films I couldn't put them on a "top ten" directors list. There are just too many other great directors with a fuller body of work over many more years.

what do u hate about gilliam?

THE ROCK is criterion and i own that too. i love both movies.....
gilliam belongs in any and every top 10 list as far as i'm concerned...!
1-Senior Spilbergo - Appeal to everyone, because they've heard of him
2-Hitchcock - Appeal to older people because they'll remember how good he was
3-Scorsese - Give the list some integrity
4-Kubrick - OK so the list starts here
5-Ridley Scott - It's a British magazine, they have to throw him in there I guess
6-Kurosawa - Represents all foreign films and their directors
7-Pete Jackson - He directed LOTR, and everyone knows his name
8-QT - the 'new' generation guy (that anyone's ever heard of)
9-Orson Wells - Oh yeah, he did do Citizen Kane, and that has to be represented at all times
and
10-Woody - not too sure about this one
Woody because you gotta have a laugh now and then!
HaHa. Of course.
They listed Chaplin, but not Keaton. Their list is completely debunked and represents nothing at all.
Quote from: Gamblor Posts Drunk6-Kurosawa - Represents all foreign films and their directors
hahaha
Quote from: Gamblor Posts Drunk2-Hitchcock - Appeal to older people because they'll remember how good he was
But I'm a teenager.
Hmm you're an anomaly. We'll ignore you. Teenagers only know Hitchcock by the Van Sant remake, and the only scene they remember is Vince Vaughn jerkin it.
