I've been a fan of Saul Williams for years now and I'm dissapointed in Xixax that there is not a thread for him.

From IMDB:
Acclaimed New York-based verbal stylist, who has risen to the level of one of the foremost slam poets today. Holds a B.A. in philosophy and acting from Morehouse College, as well as a Masters in Acting from NYU. Was a staple of NYC's Nuyorican Poets Cafe, where he honed his skill, drwaing from old-school hip-hop and African griot-style storytelling. Has since also performed with progressive hip-hop acts like KRS-One and The Roots and punk rockers Rage Against The Machine.

I was introduced to Saul Williams through the breahtaking film, SLAM. It's great. It blew my mind.

It's the story of a young black man who is arrested for posession of marijuana, and the power of poetry. Tagline: "Words make sense of a world that won't."

Absolutely unbelievable live poetry performances by Saul Williams. And Sonja Sohn the lead actress is beautiful and talented -- she was on the show THE WIRE, as well. Saul Williams has written three books: "SHE," "The Seventh Octave," and his most recent, ",said the shotgun to the head." The first two are collections of poetry while the third is one, epic poem about a man who comes face to face with the messiah. He has also released two CDs of poetry and music, "Amethyst Rock Star" and his most recent, released days ago, entitled "Saul Williams," which is one of the most brilliant pieces of art I've ever heard in my entire life.

"When you commit your life to being a vessel as an artist, you witness magic."
--Saul Williams

"she had eyes
like two turntables
mix(h)er
in between
my dreams and reality
blend in ancient themes
the bas(e)is of isis
cross-faded to ankh
the beat drops
like a cliff
over looking my heart"
- from ",said the shotgun to the head'"

I spoon powdered drum beats into plastic bags
sellin' kilos of kente scag
takin' drags off of collards and cornbread
tree-basing through saxophones and flutes like mad
the high notes make me space float
i be exhalin' in rings that circle Saturn
leavin'stains in my veins in astrological patterns
yeah, i'm sirius B
Dogon niggas plotted shit, lovely
but the Feds are also plottin' me
they're tryin' to imprison my astrology
to put my stars behind bars
my stars in stripes
using blood splattered banners
as nationalist kites
but i control the wind
that's why they call it the hawk
i am horus son of isis
son of osiris worshipped as jesus
resurrected like lazarus
but you can call me lazzie
lazy
yeah, i'm lazy
cause i'd rather sit and build
than work and plow a field
worshipping a daily yield of cash green crop
your evolution stopped with the evolution of your technology
a society of automatic tellers and money machines
nigga what?
my culture is lima beans

Hahaha.  Funniest edit ever.

I didn't think Slam was that great a movie, but the slam scenes more than made it worthwhile. Williams is a brilliant poet and performer. I never saw K-Pax, though.
