ok kiddies, what makes film aspire to greatness?

for me, it's a layered/complex story with believeable characters in extraordinary circumstances. honesty and intergrity are a must. subtle humour. the images and music must evoke a coherent mood. thought provoking. the film must come back to the human condition. it should entertain me, at the least, but most importantly change a current perception or make me grow as a person in someway.
