Atom Heart Mother and Animals are, imo, the most underrated albums of all time.
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

YES!

Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands. The group is underrated and David Gilmour is an underrated guitar player as well.

People always seem to focus on them as being a drug band, not a good band. Always pisses me off.

but a hit of acid on the Divison Bell tour (94' I think) can go a long way....

Pwaybloe

'94 is right.

I went to go see them when they played in Nashville back then.  I'll probably never see a better live show.  Amazing.

I love/hate the wall at the same time.  Music is pure genius, but some songs flow so perfectly that you can't stop the flow.  The string that comes to mind is...

Nobody Home
Vera
Bring the Boys Back Home
Comfortably Numb
Show Must Go On
In the Flesh
Run Like Hell

that's pretty much the second disc, but yeah...that certain string i can't interrupt.
"As a matter of fact I only work with the feeling of something magical, something seemingly significant. And to keep it magical I don't want to know the story involved, I just want the hypnotic effect of it somehow seeming significant without knowing why." - Len Lye

I was not even aware of such solosinphonic treasures....

Spill the beans, help me out....albums, names, the works!  I like pretty much all of floyd, but I probably perfer the Barrett stuff better...would love to here his solo stuff....

Ghostboy

The Wall was the first album I ever got into, ever. I didn't really listen to anything other than classical music up until junior high, and then I heard The Wall at a friend's house one day and it was like this whole new incredible thing. I listened to it nonstop for quite a long time. However, I find all the Floyd stuff sans-Waters is pretty excerable.

The Wall is the only movie I have a 35mm print of.
