I was waiting for you to make this thread. I was going to but I'm no good at posting cute little symetrical thumbnails. I suck at that stuff, unfortunately.

It's been an awesome year (so far)

In no order, just some stuff that will make my eventual end of the year list.

My top 10 (so far)
Timber Timbre - Timber Timbre
The Horrors - Primary Colours
DJ Quik & Kurupt - Blaqout
Camera Obscura - My Mauldin Career
Dan Deacon - Bromst
Here We Go Magic - Here We Go Magic
Yeah Yeah Yeah's - It's Blitz!
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
Dent May - The Good Feeling......

Some other albums I'm feeling that could make the list if they have longevity.
Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Sonic Youth - The Eternal
Wilco - Wilco (The Album)
Dan Auerbach - Keep It Hid
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
Wavves - Wavvves
Andrew Bird - Noble Beast
Antony & the Johnsons - The Crying Light
Beirut - Those two EP's especially the second one

It's been such an awesome year that there is stuff I haven't even heard yet.

My number one will most likely be between Merriweather Post Pavilion and It's Blitz! or a tie between the two. Can't see anything beating those this year.

So far:

Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career
Fiery Furnaces - I'm Going Away (if leaks count)
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Wilco - Wilco (The Album)
Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer

Stefen

I'm not feeling the new fiery furnaces. I had Widow City as my fave of 07 but this new one just seems very boring to me. I'm hoping it's a grower. I love them.

For me, this has not been a year of solid albums.  Some great singles floating around, but no real powerful albums stick out to me yet.

For now, I will at least make sure to draw attention to (in order(?)):

Pelican - Ephemeral

Black Moth Super Rainbow - Eating Us

DOOM - Born Like This

Sunn O))) - Monoliths and Dimensions

And I've got my fingers crossed on:

"As a matter of fact I only work with the feeling of something magical, something seemingly significant. And to keep it magical I don't want to know the story involved, I just want the hypnotic effect of it somehow seeming significant without knowing why." - Len Lye

squints

i haven't really gotten into the new Black Moth, Wilco, or Andrew Bird albums but i'm really big fans of those bands. Wavves is overrated tripe and their lack of staying power as a band seems pretty evident, if it weren't for pitchfork no one would care about them come the end of the year. I love these lists in this thread cause it gives me a chance to check out some stuff i may have missed. But here's my overhyped and overrated list of the half-year so far. I'll add some pretty pictures later in the year when its more definitive:

Akron/Family - Set Em Wild, Set Em Free
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion
Bibio - Ambivalence Avalanche (his second album of the year, first one's not so bad either)
Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle
Dan Deacon - Bromst
Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
DOOM - Born Like This
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Here We Go Magic - Here We Go Magic
Lotus Plaza - The Floodlight Collective
Mika Miko - We Be Xuxa
Sore Eros - Second Chants
Chad VanGaalen - Soft Airplane
"The myth by no means finds its adequate objectification in the spoken word. The structure of the scenes and the visible imagery reveal a deeper wisdom than the poet himself is able to put into words and concepts" – Friedrich Nietzsche

JG

i am pretty bored with my taste in music, but here is what i have really liked so far:

st. vincent - actor
dirty projectors - bitte orca
cymbal eat guitars - why there are mountains
phoenix - wolfgang amadeus phoenix
swan lake - enemy mine
sunset rubdown - dragonslayer
suburban kids with biblical names - #4

i'd like to say a little about some of these albums, but i think i'll wait until the end of year and make it look nice too. other albums i'm not too sure about but i think might be good include merriweather post pavilion and veckatimest.
