Eli Roth thought the ending of CMBB was all about him, also :|

So I was listening to the commentary on the new Cabin Fever Blu-Ray last night. It's a recently recorded cast/director commentary that isn't particularly entertaining or enlightening. Probably due to the fact that the original DVD already contained five commentary tracks to varying success... all that was left was for the cast to get together and compliment each other on what a terrific job each one of them did and what gyms they attend.

So Eli Roth begins to pad out the commentary with Tarantino anecdotes, and none of them are particularly new, either... except for this:

Tarantino showed Cabin Fever to PTA who loved it and went out of his way to tell Roth he'd seen the film four times and that he rarely watches any film that much.

Fair enough. But here's where it goes off the fucking rails:

When TWBB was released, Roth saw it, loved it, but was taken aback by the ending. Why? Because DDL proclaims that Paul was the chosen one and Eli was the fraud and Roth thought this was PTA's dig at him. Add to this the fact that the scene takes place on a bowling lane and roth has a massacre scene in Cabin Fever that takes places in a bowling alley.

So Roth asks QT if PTA is mad at him, QT texts PTA, PTA replies something charming blah blah blah.

So... fucking seriously... Roth was certain the ending of Blood was directed squarely at him.

(It's not.)
Maybe every day is Saturday morning.

And just when you thought Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino were going to make some effort to force their critics to come up with the jokes about their egomania, they do this and remind everyone that the bad parody is writing itself.

It's chuckle worthy on first read, but memorable because it's exactly a scene you imagine would appear in a bad spoof movie about them. I'm great at bad jokes, but not even my best desperation would have come up with that joke. It would be too dumb to write, but yet here it is, in full out seriousness.

That quality almost makes it funny.

WHAT THE FUCK. This is some serious 13 year old girl stupid shit. Do you realize that Roth asks QT if PTA is mad at him and QT texts PTA : ''r u mad at Eli?'' Do you realize how insanely stupid that is?

And what the fuck about PTA watching Cabin Fever ''4 times'' and rarely watching any film so often. I liked Cabin Fever a lot and saw it twice very enjoyably, but I would hardly emphasize so much on my praise for it.

I hate QT, I fucking despise Bear Jew and I'm disapointed by PTA. Which is the worst because I didn't expect him to be part of that coke-drain QT circle.

Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

Dude, if David Lynch and Peter Jackson liked it that much I don't see what is so incredibly strange about PTA or any other good to great filmmaker watching Cabin Fever 4 times. Really...that film is fun...I've seen it more than 4 times and it always cracks me up, it's a short movie so it has that going for it too, it has a distinctive vibe of uneasiness and stupidity that other teen horror movies rarely achieve. PTA likes Cabin Fever enough to see it 4 times...makes total sense to me. Jesus, the guy made Couch, he can like empty stupid crap just like anyone else.

I'm guessing David Lynch watched it because the score is by Angelo Badalamenti (spelling) because I heard he hardly ever watches movies. I'm not surprised he would enjoy it since there are some Lynchian parts in it I thought.

Peter Jackson is a huge horror film fan so of course he will like it since it's a good horror film. As I said earlier:

What I can't see is PTA having a hard-on for Eli Roth. Why would that happen. Whatever the quality of Cabin Fever, it must be a product of chance because the guy is worst than Ratner.

And obviously there are FAR better films to watch 4 times if you hardly ever watch films 4 times.

I thought PTA was above the whole mess that is the friendship between QT and Eli Roth. That whole story about Eli thinking PTA is mad at him and made TWBB to spite him (right word?) is fucking insane enough to show how much of a mess these two are. QT didn't tell Eli : ''Are you crazy? lol!!!'' he texted PTA to ask him.

Whatever, as I said I hate both of them.

From the account that John gives, though, it's not even clear that Eli Roth has ever actually met PTA.  Or if so, it doesn't really sound like they're friends.

I think David Lynch was connected to Eli Roth before Roth made Cabin Fever... something about Roth being Lynch's protege.  I don't really know the details, but I remember a quotation from Lynch saying, "Oh, yeah, Eli's my buddy!"  Then I'm guessing that's how Badalamenti came to do the score, which I didn't know before you said so, because I've never seen Cabin Fever.

It's okay to like stuff.

There's "like" and there's:

but whatever, I get from your comments that Cabin Fever is of the finest quality of films and Eli Roth is a genius so it's all good.

New Feeling

Pas Rap needs to chill out on the hate.  Your over-reaction to a second and third hand story is some serious 13 year old girl shit.

Pas

I hardly think it's an overreaction to say that for Eli Roth to believe TWBB is based on PTA's anger at him he must be a serious cock.

lynch was involved from screenplay phase and was to actually put his name on cabin fever as "david lynch presents". in his own words, when he saw the final film he said to roth that the film didn't need his name on it because it was good on it's own. PJ liked it enough to allow his quote of appraisal to be in the poster.
