This guy is awsome.  Lyrics are top notch and the songs are unpredictable and pure.

Jack Johnson - On and On
Kinda Dave Matthewsy  bouncy beats with acoustic guitars.....

The Streets - Original Pirate Material

I know Jim O'Rourke mostly from Sonic Youth. Cool that he's done the Love Liza thing.

I don't normally like much hip-hoppy stuff, but I do like The Streets. Must be the accent. Very Mike Leigh character.

I've never cared for Dave Matthews or anything resembling him.

I think Jon Brion's scores are more unique than his other stuff, but he's never bad. [/i]
""Money doesn't come into it. It never has. I do what I do because it's all that I am." - Morrissey

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

You need a copy of Insignificance, then.  I'll get right on that.

BTW, O'Rourke mixed Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and played as part of the Loose Fur trio (O'Rourke, Jeff Tweedy, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche).  Their debut album is like a more experimental YHF, with some Steely Dan-ish O'Rourke songs tossed in for good measure.  Excellent stuff.
