Trailer

Release Date: January 28th, 2005 (large format)

Directed by: James Cameron, Steven Quale

Premise: Director James Cameron takes 3D IMAX cameras back under water, this time to the Mid-Ocean Ridge, a submerged chain of mountains that winds 46,000 miles around the globe. These vents spew constant clouds of super-heated water, creating active hydrothermal vent communities that team with life. The creatures are abundant and very strange, including 6-foot tall worms with blood-red plumes, white crabs, and a biomass of blind, white shrimp, all competing to find just the right location in the flow of superheated water. Cameron and the mission scientists consider the correlations between life under water and the life we may one day find in outer space.
"Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art." - Andy Warhol

This looks amazing, it has some awesome images, visually speaking this could be one of the most beautiful flims in recent years.

This movie is amazing. The title sucks, and it has the same cloying sentimentality of Ghosts Of The Abyss, but who gives a damn because the footage is absolutely astounding. Things so beautiful they'll make you gasp. There's this moment where a strangely irradescent octopus curiously grabs hold of one of the submersible vehicles that is one of the single best moments I've seen in a film lately. The 3D technology has never been put to a better use....it fosters a feeling of complete awe.

Plus, there's a pre-vis animation sequence explaining how a robot might explore the oceans on Europa that is really damn cool.
