You know sarcasm doesn't come through very well over the internet - if you weren't being sarcastic then you have a pathetic opinion.

Eh, not so much sarcasm as it was a satirical statment about those idiots who actually prefer the miniseries.

...the statement being that they suck.

modage

you'll find no such idiots around here derek237.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

Derek237

Yes but I trust I'll find many people who are aware of these idiots, who can appreciate the gag. Which just...makes me feel...all warm, and fuzzy inside.

Only just saw the list and I like most of it. I don't really have anything new to say, so here are some quotes i agree with:

Quote from: RegularKarateEternal Sunshine is really the only one that absolutely doesn't belong on there (not that it's bad, it's just not top 15 material).

QuoteAdaptation should be replacing ESotSM
Casino is a bit better than Goodfellas, but they're pretty close
I still think that Boogie Nights is much better than Magnolia but that's just personal taste

speaking of which, pulp fiction is WAYYY too high. i mean i know we all love it, but that much? the more and more i think about it, the more and more i almost like jackie brown just as much.
yes. in fact, i think Jackie Brown is far superior, and Pulp shouldn't appear on the dekapenticon at all.

So, I wish I'd had the spare time to participate in this (next year, for sure), but I'm really liking the list. Wouldn't be my personal list, but it's a great reflection on the site. And modage? Beautiful collage work!!!

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

Only great rewards can come with having Godardian around. Glad he's found some passion to continue posting.

Gay cowboys can have that effect.

. . . and don't forget the pudding. Whenever there are gay cowboys and pudding on hand--as at, say, independent film festivals--Godardian may also be found. :)

Obviously what you are doing right now is called (in my upcoming book of psychology at least) validation. I think it's a normal thing to do. People will reply, say anything, and then you're gonna do what you were subconsciently thinking of doing all along.

because this isn't the "stupidest thing you've heard someone say about a movie" thread.

where does Network fall on the post-15 list? its gotta be somewhere right?

I like this list a lot. I wish I'd participated. . . . I'll agree with RK and (I think) some others that Eternal Sunshine seems most out of place, not that it's a bad film or anything. It's the quirky "flair" of the list, I suppose. So happy to see three outstanding Kubrick films on there (and 2001 at the top!) and ecstatic to see Vertigo, which I think is Hitchcock's best and is in my personal top 10 list of all time. . . .

Great showing in the selections, and gorgeous presentation, too!
