every time my computer makes a sound... sending an IM, opening a new program, etc. ... anything that causes the speakers to be used, there's a 3-second feedback hum after the sound is made.

i'm using klipsch surround sound speakers with a monster optical cable.

i have the latest version of OS X Tiger. i'm certain that the speakers are physically configured the right way... it's not a problem with them being too close together. they're all correctly in phase. i don't know what's up.

any suggestions?

Obviously what you are doing right now is called (in my upcoming book of psychology at least) validation. I think it's a normal thing to do. People will reply, say anything, and then you're gonna do what you were subconsciently thinking of doing all along.

klipsch speakers have been known to have problems with their driver on macs.  i thought it was suppose to be taken care of with tiger, but i guess not.

best to use a third-party sound card, and look for a diver fix.

maybe that helps?
pushups are good.
