I know O Brother is played out, jumped the sharks, whatever. But if you wanna read a good analysis of it that might make you view it differently, go to:

I don't know how many of you have read the article yet, but I just found another piece of detail to bolster my argument that O Brother is about evolution. While glancing over the credits for Quest for Fire, I noticed that the lead character was played by Everett McGill. That was Clooney's character's name in O Brother.

yeah, i dunno about the whole thing, it's an epic story.. but the last shot is definitely about an infinite gap. which is what evolution would be.

I like what you're saying - it's an interesting reading, and it certainly adds another nice, quirky layer to the movie - but I wouldn't say it's the be-all-and-end-all meaning of the film. I can imagine the brothers thinking of a lot of this stuff, but that doesn't mean it's all intentional (not that that matters really in terms of film theory of course). I dig it though, yeah.
