I believe this had the same First AD as You Were Never Really Here, Thomas "Dutch" Deckaj (sp?) Nice dude with a great gnarly beard with whom I once shared a brief but joyous burst of Nick Cave enthusiasm which he likely wouldn't remember but clearly meant a lot to me. Color this my new most anticipated of 2018.

it's cool to me that his artistic reputation is flowering and that on top of that he has clear compatibility with the human condition, which is to say he has a kind heart. it feels good when good things happen to good people

The Director's Chair / Re: Gus Van Sant
« Last post by jenkins on June 04, 2018, 09:30:51 PM »
oh i remembered my last thing in terms of now

there are 2 movies i've seen this year

1 Black Panther
2 Donít Worry, He Wonít Get Far On Foot. i saw it in some screening room on Wilshire. it was weird, four of us were in this small theater with leather seats, i was with one person, Mark Olsen was another person, the fourth person i didn't know. so that was a special unusual circumstance and still i thought the movie was just okay. it's what they say: an AA meeting as a movie. the theme of perseverance through life obstacles is important, and i personally adored its appreciation for dark humor, but the movie felt flat and only later did i remember that Van Sant often goes flat, i forgot to mention Phoenix is at peak sure, Jonah Hill is solid sure, the movie disappointed me but also i'm being hard on it.

The Sisters Brothers

Director: Jacques Audiard
Casting: Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, Jake Gyllenhaal

Those two trailers are full of wonders. They sell two different movies. The first one is French, the second one is American.

I felt like Gone Girl was enough of a deconstruction of the genre to elevate it to a degree. His version of Girl With a Dragon Tattoo was much more frivolous, in my opinion.

In regards to this trailer, it's really hard to get a read on what level of depth this one actually has. I'm mostly excited about the congregation of so many amazing actors (ignoring Michelle Rodriguez for the moment).
