I realized something. If I ever see Martin Scorsese, I'll go up to him say, "Um...excuse me...Mr. Scorsese." And he'll be all like "Yes! Hello! I make pictures!" and I'll just give him a big hug and run away. He's just a big cuddly teddy bear and he's good at making movies. :(

I remember I saw him in person once, he came to a Q&A session at USC back in 1980, right before Raging Bull came out.  I was in the lobby of the theater when he came in, but I was too intimidated to walk up to him and say anything.

Marty's in Montreal right now. I'm trying to get my friend to hunt him down... and hug him.
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

I'd probably act like Chris Farley did on the SNL skit, "The Chris Farley Show": Remember in Taxi Driver, DeNiro said 'You talkin' to me'? That was great.

You mean in the sketch he did with Paul McCartney?

"You know when you were with the Beatles?  That was cool."

I realize that.  That was merely the one that came to mind.

Yeah, for sure. But you have to promise to try and get a pic of you and him, then post it here.

Seriously, if you guys could see my friend Ali who lives there... he's fucking hilarious. And his favorite movie (I mean, he'll freak out if you even call it just "okay") is Goodfellas. I've seen him break things in public when someone didn't give Marty proper respect. I really want him to find Scorsese.

Cecil, have you tried looking? Check those pics and info someone posted about the aviator, and see where he's shooting...

Cecil

AntiDumbFrogQuestion

I figure, I shook PT Anderson's hand, I could shake Scorsese's. I probably won't say anything important, same as when I met PTA and sort of mumbled my name, then made a funny noise when the flash on my camera went off prematurely, then told him I adore his films.
I'd say that to Scorsese except I'd be like "I adored your films with Robert DeNiro".
Well. Scorsese is the Man no matter what.
