I don't have solid proof, but here you may find something, in page two of this google search there's some interesting comments about it, look for comments by posters Gordon Stainforth and David Mullen.

In fact if you have the time, read everything that Gordon posted, there are several Q&A's and he always answered them nicely, don't know if you do but if you don't GS was the music editor of The Shining.

8 - The Killing
7 - Spartacus
6 - The Shining
5 - Dr. Strangelove (Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb)
4 - Full Metal Jacket
3 - A Clockwork Orange
2 - 2001: A Space Odyssey
1 - Eyes Wide Shut

Am yet to see Lolita and Barry Lyndon, and I'm sure my list will change accordingly...

1. Lolita
2. Barry Lyndon

Well then, I suppose I should.

I rented Barry Lyndon, Lolita and Paths of Glory from the library today.

Looks like someone's getting bunked from the list after watching these... there can be only 10!
