Networking/Contacts

Are there any good organizations that someone can join to be able to get inside information, contacts, do some networking, get invited to special events, etc?

I'm a member of IFP and some other small shitty ones, but I thought it would be a good idea to ask you guys.

How's IFP working out for you? I've been thinking about joining, but don't know if would serve much purpose outside of LA...

Well I joined the Miami Chapter which is very small compared to New York and Los Angeles, but the good thing is that its easier to have access to the Directors and the main people of this Chapter. Then, through them, you can have access to many things.

It didnt do much for me yet because I joined about a month ago, but I guess its interesting.

is IFP worth joining?  i was thinking of joining the chicago chapter.  i really NEED to make my film!!
