just a reminder.
this is airing tonight.
10pm eastern, which is like 40 minutes from now.
happy watching.
HE LIVES!
man, that was great. firstly, i've never seen or heard of a director giving an extensive tv interview on a film that has not started shooting yet and Rollins asked some pretty great questions. above all, its just nice to see that PT is alive and speaks. i'm glad he feels that NOT making films anymore is selfish because he shouldnt deny us any longer!
haha great indeed.
fucking' penderecki.
Henry Rollins seemed more awkward than usual...but he asked damn good questions. Shooting begins in 9 weeks woohoo! Not only that, but shooting on PTs first film since his "new film school" with Altman.
Btw...if you missed it i'm pretty sure its on again tonight at 1:05am est 10:00pm pst
Such a great little teaser interview. "There Might Be Blood." (for those who haven't seen it, don't take that the wrong way, there still will be - Paul jokingly said he's calling it that 'til the end of production).
Love how he still never bs's his answers:
HR: Is this maybe making a statement on oil companies dictating American policies world wide?
PT: Goodness, no. I don't know how you drew those connections.
Wonderful stuff. And is he strictly going by P.T. Anderson now or what?
Nine weeks 'til blood is drawn! (sorry, I had to).
so who wants to type it all up for us??
i started to, but realized it was a long as hell interview and would likely be on youtube in the next day or so. if time passes and it still needs transcribing i can do it, or atleast the parts that pertain to TWBB.
REMINDER:
This repeats tonight @ 11pm ET/8pm PT.

bam!
Fabulous. Mucho gracias...great interview
You sir, have won all the gratitude I have to give at this given moment.
I swear I tried to get it up here for you guys from my tivo early on. Had my little brother on it and all. We just couldn't do it. I so wanted to be the hero for once with this sort of thing. Just know, that even though I failed, I invested an hour and a half of a Sunday for my xixax friends.
God bless Cigarettes & Redvines.
I can hear the sales of Penderecki CDs already.

I heard it back when Hail to the Thief was released.
I hear it now as well.. it's a little louder.
why does he sounds sad? he sounds sad.
"i'd kind of been put off for a little while and was just tired and burned out and watching him [altman] work was sort of like this smack in the face "you don't get tired, you don't slow down, you go back to work" and it would be selfish to do anything else."
that, ladies and jellyspoons, is the pta i fell in love with.
Maybe he's not sad but just tired from being a father? Like physically, not tired of being.
Henry asks such great questions and he really is a fanboy at heart, he seems to be in the absolutely perfect mindset for these interviews. Every question for PTA was nails. When I was looking for a torrent of this, I accidentally d/l'd Bill Maher's appearance. Rollins asks such appropriate, thoughtful questions, his show is really great. Wish I got IFC.

it was great! he´s mellow, nice and sincere. and that flair, it will always be there.
and henry, we really admire you man.

Imagine Henry Rollins cooking a grilled cheese.
on a motorcycle, naked.
i love how rollins says "penderecki" like he knows who the guy is. i just wish the interview was longer.
And why wouldn't he know who he is? Is he not musically intellectual enough or something?
that's what i just said.

No. Anyone would look funny riding a motorcycle naked. It takes a certain something to look funny while cooking a grilled cheese. Henry Rollins has that something: That super intense, always deep in thought face that he's got.

i think that says more about you than rollins. the shining used a lot of his music, radiohead name drop him all the time. he is hardly an unknown, much less some exclusive property of the intellectual elite.

I just pictured that and it is pretty funny.
Imagine him enjoying the grilled cheese.
I think Henry Rollins would appreciate the grilled cheese, but I doubt he would actually enjoy it.

i was just amazed by henry's knowledge who the guy was. i don't care if he reacted the same if pta say michael bay or something. it's just a thought or is it forbidden to think here? damn...

aren't i the one who is usually annoying?
did i just do it again?
will i be demoted to being fluffer again?
have i just committed xixax suicide?
I just caught up on the last couple of weeks of Rollins' show since PTA was on and I noticed that the two weeks following PTA's appearance, PTA alumni were guests on the show. The following week, John Doe from X (aka Amber Waves' ex-husband) was the musical guest and the week after that, Patton Oswalt was on. :ponder:

NOW ON DVD!
PT Anderson billed just ahead of Kevin Smith.
And yet, well ahead of Werner Herzog. Go figure.

Exactly! The level of excitement and enthusiasm on PTA's face is incredible. Compare that to a year and a half later when he was on Charlie Rose: he barely speaks a word. By royal decree, I hereby order all film directors to due interviews the week before principal photography begins!
