coen brothers--brilliant, but how?

what do you guys think of the coen brothers?  i can watch "Barton Fink" and "Fargo" and be convinced that they're genius, but then another much loved film by them, "The Big Lebowski" will make me think they're just making films that they know people will like....is it really that good of a movie if you're not stoned, come on?  

Well, dear friend, let me tell you that I haven't seen my buddies dying face in the mud to hear such things !
Believe it or not, but The Big Lebowski is a bit much more than a drug-addict movie... For me (who, I swear on my own head, had never been stoned) this is a subtle (yes, I said it) movie, wonderfully written (if you think I'm jealous, you're absolutely right !)
Just watch it as, let's say, the Maltese Falcon of the 90's...

Am I wrong ?
