Title: Paul Mazursky
Post by: w/o horse on August 29, 2008, 01:30:19 PM
There have been enough instances of Mazursky's name coming up in my conversations or readings to warrant an exploration of his work, and I'm looking for advice on a movie to start with.

This is his director's filmography, in order to jog your memory, with the titles that already seem like contenders in bold:

QuoteYippee (2006)
Coast to Coast (2003) (TV)
Winchell (1998) (TV)
Faithful (1996)
The Pickle (1993)
Scenes from a Mall (1991)
Enemies: A Love Story (1989)
Moon Over Parador (1988)
Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986)
Moscow on the Hudson (1984)
Tempest (1982)
Willie & Phil (1980)
An Unmarried Woman (1978)
Next Stop, Greenwich Village (1976)
Harry and Tonto (1974)
Blume in Love (1973)
Alex in Wonderland (1970)
Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969)
Last Year at Malibu (1962)

Hopefully there are persons already down with the man who can comment.

i only saw scenes from a mall, really. it's mildly funny, at least bits of it from what i remember. woody steals the show.

i also saw parts of the pickle on tv once or twice. it was funny but not laugh out loud funny.
